ASEAN Sustainable Energy Challenge 2025

The Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), a member of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (AFEO), announces the ASEAN Sustainable Energy Competition 2025 organized by the AFEO Energy Working Group of the AFEO, details as follows:

This challenge aims to raise awareness and ignite passion among young engineers, entrepreneurs, and students for sustainable development and digital technology applications. It seeks to promote pioneering technical solutions in renewable energy to enhance environmental quality and address climate change. The challenge also encourages the adoption of renewable energy, fosters knowledge and experience exchange among ASEAN engineers, and provides young talents with opportunities to play a key role in advancing sustainable energy development in the region.

The challenge focuses on technical and innovative engineering solutions, best practices, sustainable management, and digital technology for sustainable energy development in ASEAN; including solutions in the fields of Renewable Energy (RE).

Participants include engineering students at universities with scientific research or practical final-year projects, young engineers and entrepreneurs at research institutes or companies with innovative sustainable solutions, as well as companies and organizations investing in creative solutions in engineering, sustainable management, and digital technology. For entries submitted by companies or organizations, the engineers directly involved in the project will be registered as the authors.

Projects will be assessed based on seven criteria, with a maximum total score of 100%: Originality (10%), Environmental Consideration (15%), Social Consideration (10%), Techno-Economic Assessment and Market Potential (30%), Operation and Maintenance (15%), Replicability (10%), and Presentation of Documents (10%). These criteria ensure a comprehensive evaluation of creativity, economic efficiency, social and environmental benefits, and project feasibility.

Submissions must include the project title, author information, a project summary (highlighting opportunities and challenges faced), and a brief description of the innovative solution (emphasizing novelty, limitations, and improvements). The submission must be formatted in A4, using Times New Roman font, size 12, with a maximum of 15 pages plus appendices (no page limit for appendices). Submissions must be accompanied by the ASEAN Sustainable Energy Challenge 2025 Application Form. Incomplete or non-compliant submissions will incur a 5% deduction from the total score.
