VUSTA President Châu Văn Minh Attends High-Level Activities at CAFEO 44

On the morning of 22 October, Prof. Academician Châu Văn Minh joined Heads of ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (AFEO) member organisations in CAFEO 44’s Tree-planting activity, reaffirming the ASEAN engineering community’s shared commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.

At the ASEAN Engineer Registration Committee (AER) meeting, Prof. Academician Châu Văn Minh discussed engineer registration, the development of the professional engineering workforce and the mutual recognition of engineering competencies across ASEAN. He proposed that the AER Committee explore measures to enhance the benefits and value of ASEAN engineer certification. He also called on AFEO to strengthen cooperation with international partners to expand the benefits available to registered engineers and establish regular continuing professional development programmes to improve engineering standards and encourage more participation in the registration scheme. In addition, President Châu Văn Minh outlined VUSTA’s future priorities in engineer registration, including re-joining the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP), researching APEC Engineer standards, and engaging more in the activities of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO).

In the afternoon, at the AFEO Governing Board Meeting, President Châu Văn Minh delivered remarks and proposed measures to strengthen cooperation among member organisations, promote professional exchanges and expand connectivity within the ASEAN engineering community. He also expressed support for AFEO’s upcoming plans to broaden cooperation with Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) and professional engineering associations in Japan and the Republic of Korea. The meeting concluded with a gift exchange among Heads of Delegations. The commemorative gifts showcased distinctive cultural features and helped strengthen friendship and cooperation among AFEO member organisations.
