DigiFest 2026 and the spirit of digital transformation in practice

At the Vietnam Digital Festival - DigiFest 2026, specialists affirmed that digital transformation is not merely digitalizing old progress but formatting new operation methods based on digital technology to efficiently solve practical problems, beneficial for residents and businesses, actively creating new values and growth momentum for the Vietnamese economy.

On June 5th, at Ninh Binh province, an Opening Ceremony of the Vietnam Digital Festival (DigiFest 2026) and the National Forum on Digital Vision of Vietnam was held. DigiFest 2026’s theme was “Developing digital platforms and services, transformation towards digital environment”, aiming to boost the progress of comprehensive digital transformation, construct a national digital ecosystem and uphold digital competitiveness of Vietnam in the era of data and AI.

The programme was organized under the cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Provincial People’s Committee of Ninh Binh, the Institute of Innovation and Digital Transformation (affiliated under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations), and the National Digital Transformation Authority.

The programme was supported by the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT); the Hanel Joint Stock Company; AI Cloud GreenNode - a member of VNG Group; FPT Group and Vietnam TikTok.

Attending the ceremony were comrades Bui Hoang Phuong, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology; Dang Thanh Son, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee of Ninh Binh; Phan Xuan Dung, President of VUSTA and leaders of localities; representatives of departments of information technology, digital transformation; businesses and organizations operating in the field of digital technology, specialists in and outside of Vietnam, and scientists.

Addressing the Opening Ceremony of the DigiFest 2026, Comrade Bui Hoang Phuong, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology emphasized that Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo determined science, technology and digital transformation to be the top important breakthroughs, to be the main momentum to boost the country’s growth in the new era - the era of the national rise. This is the first time that these three pillars have been put together not as three independent fields but one unified entity, creating synergistic power for the growth.

With that vision, digital transformation plays a significant role. Science and technology generate knowledge and innovation turns knowledge into resolutions while digital transformation is a way for applying these resolutions in practice - among every state unit, business and resident. Digital transformation is where all efforts are shown in practical results.

Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong emphasized digital transformation is not just about digitalizing old processes but actively creating new tech-driven ways of working with super efficiency.

At the Forum, Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong introduced core objectives of the DigiFest 2026: Creating space for substantial policy discussion among State, businesses, scientists and international partners; Promoting digital platform’s growth and digital services based on data and artificial intelligent; Connecting and spreading efficient digital transformation model in a national scale; Promoting international cooperation, upholding technology independence ability and boosting Vietnam’s position in the global flow of technology.

With the theme “Developing digital platforms and services, transformation towards digital environment”, the DigiFest 2026 hopé to contribute to promoting the fundamental transformation in the nation’s operation methods, from manual operation to digital operation, from fragmentation to unification, from administrative management to development management based on data and artificial intelligence.

Through discussion sessions, the forum provided an opportunity for management units, specialists, technology businesses and international partners to discuss resolutions for developing digital platforms and services and promoting activities in the digital environment, contributing to successfully building a digital state, developing digital economy and society in Vietnam.

President of VUSTA Phan Xuan Dung affirmed that data has become a national strategic resource. Data is the foundation for modern governance and is a basis for the formation of new digital economic models.

The role of artificial intelligence (AI) has also been noticed. AI has greatly affected state management, business, production and social life. However, in order to take advantage of this opportunity, Vietnam needs to invest more in infrastructure, digital data, high-skilled human resources and the innovative ecosystem.  

President Phan Xuan Dung also emphasized spirit of applying digital transformation into practice at this year forum worth to be recognized. The content of digital Government, digital data, digital platforms and heritage preservation, all aims to the mutual goal of making science, technology, innovation and digital transformation be a new momentum for the country’s growth.
