Nghe An: Honoring 64 outstanding students in the 2025 Chemistry Olympiad
August 10, the Chemical Association of Nghe An organized the awarding ceremony for the 19/5 Chemistry Olympiad, honoring 64 outstanding students from 15 provinces.
The 19-5 Chemistry Olympiad Final, initiated in 2021 and has been organized by the Chemical Association of Nghe An - a member of Nghe An Unions of Science and Technology Associations. The event became a meaningful intellectual platform for young individuals passionate about chemistry.

Chu Van Nguyen, the Secretary General of the Vietnamese Chemical Association and Cao Cu Giac, the President of Chemical Association of Nghe An awarded certificates and gold medals for 2 students won the first prize.
Attending the awarding ceremony were Dr. Chu Van Nguyen - the Secretary General of the Vietnamese Chemical Association; MSc Vo Van Mai - Deputy Director of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training; MSc Dau Quang Vinh - Permanent Vice President of the Nghe An Unions of Science and Technology Associations; members of the Executive Committee of the Chemical Association of Nghe An, teachers, parents and students.
Speaking at the closing and awarding ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Cu Giac, Meritorious Teacher - Presidents of the Chemical Association of Nghe An, Head of Organizing Committee said: This year’s Olympiad came with new points, especially bilingual assessment structure (Vietnamese and English), encouraging students to use English in studying chemistry. It also focused on reading ability and applying chemistry in practice, enabling students to show knowledge, critical thinking skill, problem solving ability and creativity.
There were 1500 attendees having interest in Chemistry from 15 provinces. After the first online round, 104 excellent students passed to the offline Final Round in Nghe An province.
The 4th 19-5 Chemistry Olympiad in 2025 was hosted on the occasion of the 135th Anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth. This major competition, organized annually by the Nghe An Chemistry Association to celebrate the beloved President’s birthday, attracts thousands of lower and upper secondary school students from across the country who share a passion for chemistry. The Olympiad is held in two rounds:
Round 1: Online multiple choices on May 19.
Round 2: Offline multiple choices on paper at Cua Lo, Nghe An on July 30.
By the success gained in this competition, the students have sent out a strong message of Chemistry’s appeal and spread the love of Contemporary Chemistry to everybody. The organization of the Olympiad is one of the most meaningful activities, encouraging Chemistry teaching and learning movement in lower and upper secondary schools. It helps early recognizing and honoring gifted students in Chemistry, while providing sources to teach Chemistry in high schools, contributing to the national goal of training talents.
The Organizing Committee awarded 64 outstanding students, including 2 winning the First Prize, 12 winning the Second Prize, 16 winning the Third Prize and 34 Consolidation Prize. Students gaining the First, Second and Third Places were also awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals.
The First Prize belonged to 2 students, Le Van Lam, class 9B, Le Hong Phong Secondary School, Hung Nguyen commune, Nghe An province and Nguyen Xuan Manh, class 11A1, Quynh Luu 4 High School, Quynh Tam commune, Nghe An province.
At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Cu Giac, Meritorious Teacher, Presidents of the Chemical Association of Nghe An awarded certificates and awards of the Chemical Association for Nguyen Ngo Duc - Class 12A4, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted. He gained the Gold Medal for the 2025 International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad (IMChO).

The President of Chemical Association of Nghe An and Meritorious Teacher, Vo Van Mai, Deputy Director of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training awarded certificates for members having excellent achievements in nurturing International and National Chemistry Olympiad and excellent students in the province in 2025.
Furthermore, members having excellent achievements in nurturing gifted students in Chemistry and students gaining 10 points in the 2025 graduation exam, members gaining excellent achievements in the 2025 Association’s movement were also awarded. The Organizing Committee awarded certificates for 40 students participating in the competition.
The success of the competition is an affirmation of Chemistry’s role in daily life and the future of the nation. Thereby, it encourages passion in Chemistry, contributing to the talented intellectual generation of the nation. The competition is a meaningful playground, recognizing and honoring young talents. This is also a journey towards developing the country’s knowledge and prosperity while seeking chances to communicate and exchange insights between students sharing common passion and vision for Chemistry around the country.
