  1. Meeting with General Secretary To Lam

On December 30, 2024, in Hanoi, General Secretary To Lam and other leaders from the Party and State met with Vietnamese intellectuals. VUSTA was allocated 60 delegates out of 150 invited attendees. During the meeting, General Secretary To Lam emphasized the significant contributions of intellectuals and scientists to the country’s development across various fields. He highlighted the accomplishments of the revolution, particularly noting the country's remarkable achievements over the past 40 years of renewal, with a special acknowledgment of the vital role played by intellectuals and scientists.

VUSTA President Phan Xuan Dung delivered an important report on the organization's activities. He also proposed solutions to enhance the creativity and intellect of intellectuals in the coming years. This initiative aims to contribute to national development during a new era - an era of development and prosperity under the leadership of the CPV, with the successful building of a socialist Vietnam with wealthy people, a strong nation, and a democratic, fair, and civilized society.

  1. Holdinga ceremony to honor 135 outstanding intellectuals in science and technology

On August 28, 2024, in Hanoi, VUSTA successfully held a ceremony to honor 135 exceptional intellectuals in science and technology for their achievements in 2024. The event was conducted with great solemnity to recognize and celebrate those who have made significant contributions to the country's industrialization, modernization, and international integration.

Comrade Tran Thanh Man, a member of the Politburo and Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam attended the event and delivered a speech. He presented emblems to these outstanding intellectuals in science and technology. The event was attended by numerous Politburo members, leaders from various ministries and central agencies, as well as a large number of scientists from the member organizations of VUSTA.

  1. Participating in the conference of Party and State leaders meeting with intellectuals and artists

On February 16, 2024, in Hanoi, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, along with other Party and State leaders, chaired a conference. During this conference, they cordially met with representatives of intellectuals, scientists, and artists, including many members of VUSTA.

The conference was a success, boasting the participation of 210 delegates, including prominent intellectuals, scientists, and artists. These individuals have made significant contributions to the advancement of science, technology, education, training, and the development of Vietnamese culture.

During the conference, Comrade Phan Xuan Dung, VUSTA President, on behalf of the intellectual and scientific community, highlighted the vital contributions of intellectuals, especially those under the VUSTA system.

  1. Signing a cooperationagreementwith the Scientific Council of Central Party agencies for the 2024-2030period

On January 12, 2024, in Hanoi, the Scientific Council of Central Party agencies and the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations held a working session and signed a cooperation agreement for the 2024-2030 period.

The cooperation program aims to enhance the implementation of Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW, dated November 1, 2012, by the 11th Party Central Committee. This resolution focuses on "Developing science and technology to support industrialization and modernization within a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration." Additionally, the program seeks to promote the role of the scientific and technological intellectual community, represented by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, in executing Resolution 45-NQ/TW, issued on December 24, 2023, during the 8th Plenary Session of the 13th Party Central Committee. This resolution emphasizes the need to continue building and enhancing the role of intellectuals to meet the demands for rapid and sustainable national development in the new era.

  1. Collecting scientists and technologists’ opinions before the 7th and 8th sessions of the 15th National Assembly

The Party and State always attach importance to the opinions of scientists and technologists. Accordingly, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, in coordination with the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the National Assembly's Committee for Science, Technology, and Environment, organized a conference to solicit opinions from scientists and technologists before the 7th and 8th sessions of the 15th National Assembly. The conference was attended by a large number of scientists and technologists from VUSTA and representatives of the Central Committee's Publicity and Education Commission, The Central Mass Mobilization Commission, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and some agencies of the National Assembly: Committee for Science, Technology, and Environment, Committee for Culture, Education,…

The conference was large-scale with comprehensive content on the socio-economic development of the country. After the conference, the opinions were compiled and sent to the National Assembly and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

  1. Organizing delegations to participate in international exhibitions and competitions, winning numerous awards

From May 16 to 18, 2024, VUSTA delegates led by Phan Xuan Dung, VUSTA President cum Chairman of the VIFOTEC Board of Trustees, participated in the International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX) 2024 held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, Malaysia. The Vietnamese delegation won 01 special prize and 3 gold medals. The projects displayed at the exhibition were selected from the awards of the 19th National Creativity Contest for teenagers and children in 2023, and 05 Vietnamese scientific works by the Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technological Creations (VIFOTEC).

From November 27 to 30, 2024, VUSTA delegates led by General Secretary Nguyen Quyet Chien participated in the 2024 Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF 2024) in Korea. This is the largest exhibition on science and technology, jointly organized by the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA), the Korea Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) along with the Ministry of Science, the Ministry of Trade, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Association of Small&Medium Enterprises, the

Federation of International Trade Associations, the Korea Women Invention Association, and the Korea Patent Attorneys Association. The Vietnamese delegation won the Grand Prize and 3 Gold Medals.

  1. Achieving significant results in international cooperation activities on knowledge popularization

On November 21, 2024, VUSTA successfully organized a seminar titled "Promoting international cooperation on science popularization for green growth and sustainable development". This seminar saw the participation of 150 delegates from various international organizations, including the China Association for Science and Technology, the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations, and the European Union in Vietnam, as well as representatives from VUSTA member organizations, ministries, institutes, and universities of Vietnam.

The seminar facilitated opportunities for collaboration between organizations within the VUSTA system and international partners and stakeholders focused on knowledge popularization for green growth and sustainable development. During the seminar, a delegation from the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology (SAST) of China, led by Mr. Liu Wei, held an official meeting with VUSTA leaders. This meeting was a key step in strengthening friendly relations and promoting international cooperation between the two organizations.

Following this, VUSTA sent a delegation, led by Vice President Pham Ngoc Linh, to attend the 2024 World Conference on Science Literacy in Beijing, China. The delegation also participated in the Preparatory Conference for the Establishment of the World Organization for Science Literacy (WOSL).

  1. Winning 03 National Book Awards in 2024(Tri Thuc Publishing House)

Tri Thuc Publishing House, under VUSTA, won 03 awards at the 7th National Book Awards in 2024, including 02 C Prizes (1- Từ điển yêu thích Bầu trời và các vì sao (Author: Trinh Xuan Thuan; translators Pham Van Thieu, Ngo Vu; 5th reprint); 2- Book - Sư phạm khai phóng (Author: Gian Tu Trung)) and 01 consolation prize: Book - Báo tổ quốc và Diễn đàn Trí thức (1954-1988) (Author: Bui Xuan Vinh), which was published on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of VUSTA.

This is the result of the attention and correct direction of the Party Delegation, the VUSTA Presidium for publishing work, as well as the continuous growth of Tri Thuc Publishing House over the years.

  1. Placing the plaque of the project that won the Special Prize - The 3rd National Urban Planning Award

On April 15, 2024, in the center of Dien Bien Phu city, the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association and related units held a plaque-attaching ceremony for the Dien Bien Phu Battlefield Martyrs' Temple, winning the "SPECIAL PRIZE" of the 3rd National Urban Planning Award (VUPA) in 2022. This is one of the events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory: May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024.

The construction and planning of the “Dien Bien Phu Battlefield Martyrs’ Temple” area has created a complete and continuous connection for the entire memorial area and surrounding historical relics such as Hill A1, Martyrs’ Cemetery A1, Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum, Dien Bien Phu Victory Monument, etc.

The project is a particularly important highlight, built on the foundation of preserving and promoting the value of the special national historical relic site “Dien Bien Phu Battlefield” along with its characteristics of ecology, landscape, environment, and humanistic culture.

  1. Supporting compatriots affected by storm No.3 (Yagi) and storm circulation

Storm No. 3 caused significant damage in the northern mountainous provinces. Responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, VUSTA and the Labor Union of VUSTA have called on cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, and affiliated trade union organizations to support people affected by Storm No.3, mobilizing nearly 1 billion VND and many essential goods and equipment (not including the budget directly donated and given by organizations in the system).VUSTA donated this money to the people of Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, and Cao Bang provinces through the Vietnam Fatherland Front. This timely and meaningful activity has helped people recover from the damage caused by Storm No.3 and stabilize their lives. At the same time, it showcases the responsibility of the scientific and technological experts from VUSTA towards individuals affected by natural disasters.

30 enterprises and localities recognized as Top Industry 4.0 in Vietnam 2024

Green Forest Program to launch in 2024
To celebrate World Environment Day (June 5th), VUSTA and the Center for People and Nature (PanNature) coordinated with the local authority to hold a launching ceremony for the 2024 Green Forest Program on the morning of June 2nd (2024). The program aims to restore 10 hectares of forest in Van Ho (Son La) and 15 in Hang Kia - Pa Co Nature Reserve.
