Raising awareness of innovation and developing intellectual property for enterprises

On January 10, 2023, Forum "Innovative Enterprises and Intellectual Property Development" in 2022 was solemnly held at the International Convention Center, Hanoi.

The forum was organized by the Center for Quality Certification and Enterprise Development under the auspices of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA).

Former Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, former Vice President of VUSTA Nghiem Vu Khai; Director of Intellectual Property Department - Ministry of Science and Technology Dinh Huu Phi; Deputy Director of Operations Department - General Department of Market Management - Ministry of Industry and Trade Nguyen Duc Le co-chaired the Forum.

Attending the Forum were representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and representatives of provinces and cities across the country, including: Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, An Giang, Long An, Soc Trang, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Bac Ninh, Hoa Binh, Dien Bien, etc. and businessmen representatives enterprises across the country.

Speaking at the opening of the Forum, President of VUSTA Phan Xuan Dung emphasized the importance of innovation and development of intellectual property for business development, especially in the period of global integration into the world economy as well as the application of 4.0 technology in all production and business activities. Therefore, it is very necessary to disseminate the Party's and State's policies on innovation to businesses. This will be the foundation not only for businesses to plan future development but also to increase their competitiveness in the country as well as when reaching out to the international market.

President of VUSTA said: "We have recognized science, technology and innovation as the major driving force for the sustainable growth and development of each country. Accordingly, position and status of each country is recognized by the position and status of science, technology and innovation of that country. Thereby, scence, technology and innovation are indispensable for businesses if they want to exist and develop, especially in a world with swift and unpredictable change".

Mr. Phan Xuan Dung recommended a closer coordination between enterprises and VUSTA. VUSTA gathers more than 3.7 million members, including 2.3 million intellectuals of science and technology. VUSTA will always accompany and support businesses in consultancy and social evaluation, scientific research, communication and knowledge dissemination, scientists honoring activities to serve sustainable development of the enterprises.

Mr. Dinh Huu Phi - Director of the National Office of Intellectual Property - Ministry of Science and Technology pointed out the current issues of intellectual property infringement for Vietnamese enterprises. In particular, fake and poor quality goods are entering the market with very sophisticated tricks.

Therefore, it is crucial for businesses to apply cutting-edge science and technology in production and business, build brand awareness and create personal branding. It is obvious that brand recognition of consumers is the most important factor to create brand reputation, product and service quality as well as giving-value bringing to the community", said Mr. Dinh Huu Phi.

With the topic "Roles of raising awareness of innovation and developing intellectual property in enterprises – practice and proposing solutions", the forum has collected experts’ opinions on guides and policies, development orientation and the use of science and technology to realize economic development goals as well as evaluation features of the current development situation of enterprises.

The forum focused on the issue of protecting brands and intellectual property and businesses against counterfeit and poor quality goods which enter the market under increasingly sophisticated scams. Since, it requirements the brand development and protection more closely and effectively in terms of transformation and innovate in production and business of enterprises as well as application of science and technology to brand identity. Especially the participation in scientific forums, communication, advertisement and trade promotion, etc that allows enterprises’ brand to embed in customers’ minds.

Through the sharing and answering of experts, entrepreneurs, an overview of the role and importance of innovation, development and protection of intellectual property of enterprises were documented for enterprises to apply flexibly and creatively in order to contribute to improving productivity as well as improving the quality of your products and services.

The forum has not only attracted the attendance of a large number of business but also received the attention of leaders of ministries and state agencies; specialized science and technology organizations… and leaders of big provinces and cities across the country.

The forum was highly appreciated by experts in creating a bridge for exchanges and cooperation, encouraging the business community towards creative values, constantly innovating and developing sustainable brands in the future./.
