Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation 2023 Honors 79 Projects and Solutions

The Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, together with the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and The Ministry of Science and Technology, organized the launching ceremony of the Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation 2023 in Hanoi on December 6.

Leaders launched the Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation 2023

This event aimed to recognize and praise individuals and organizations with practical and effective contributions to science and technology, responding to the movement "Innovation and unity, improving productivity, quality, efficiency, and international integration".

Attending the announcement ceremony were Do Van Chien, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee; Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President cum General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Head of the Steering Committee for Selection, Editing, Publication, and Distribution of the Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation 2023; Phan Xuan Dung, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, Chairman of the Selection Council for Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation 2023; Nguyen Huu Dung, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for Selection, Editing, Publication, and Distribution of the Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation 2023; Nong Quoc Tuan, Deputy Minister and Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam Committee for Ethnic Affairs; Nguyen Hoang Giang, Vice Minister of Science and Technology of Vietnam; Nguyen Thanh Hai, Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Internal Affairs; leaders of socio-political organizations; leaders of ministries and departments and 79 authors and groups of authors whose works were honored in the Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation 2023.

Since 2016, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Ministry of Science and Technology, The Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, and various ministries and branches have collaborated to organize the selection and announcement of the Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation.

The selection of extinguished projects honored in the Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation aims to recognize and praise individuals and organizations with practical and effective contributions to science and technology activities. It also aims to widely publicize innovative scientific and technological works and solutions so that all citizens, agencies, units, organizations, and enterprises are aware and motivated to participate in creative activities, propose initiatives, engage in scientific research, and contribute to the development of technology across all fields. This endeavor contributes to enhancing productivity, quality, efficiency, and successful international integration, affirming the strong creative capacity of the Vietnamese people both domestically and internationally in the endeavor of developing and safeguarding the homeland.

The Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation 2023 focuses on selecting and announcing innovative scientific and technological projects and solutions in the fields of natural sciences, applied sciences, social sciences, and humanities that have made important contributions to socio-economic development, as well as developing and defending the Fatherland.

As of July 30th, 2023, the Editorial Secretariat received 199 dossiers containing innovative scientific and technological works and solutions introduced and proposed by 43 ministries, branches, provinces, and cities. In the number 43, there are 10 that came from ministries, departments, branches, and member organizations of the Front, and 33 were from provinces and cities.

58 scientific and technological projects and solutions were contributed by 10 ministries, branches, and member organizations of the Front, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Vietnam Farmers' Union, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, and the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.

141 scientific and technological works and solutions were contributed by 33 provinces and cities, including Ha Giang, Phu Tho, Lang Son, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Binh Thuan, Quang Ninh, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien - Hue, Quang Ngai, Da Nang, Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Binh Dinh, An Giang, Can Tho, Dong Nai, Thai Nguyen, Kien Giang, Bac Lieu, Vinh Long, Dong Thap, Thanh Hoa, Soc Trang, Ca Mau, Khanh Hoa, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Tuyen Quang, Long An, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi.

Among them, 162 out of 199 scientific and technological innovative projects and solutions complied with the criteria and submission requirements for the Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation 2023, issued alongside Decision No. 1954/QD-BCD-SVSTVN dated June 8, 2023, by the Editorial Steering Committee of the Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation.

6 out of 199 projects that received international awards were transferred to the list of individuals and collectives winning international awards. 33 out of 199 works were not included in the selection due to not meeting the standards and selection criteria.

There are 8 collectives, 31 individuals won international awards, including 5 collectives and 27 individuals won international awards introduced by ministries and branches at the Central level, meeting the criteria and conditions.

From 162 submitted projects and solutions, on September 8, 2023, the Selection Council thoroughly discussed and voted through secret ballot to select 79 exemplary scientific and technological innovative projects, categorized as follows: energy-saving technology, renewable energy utilization, and processing, agricultural production: 14 projects; information technology, electronics, and telecommunications: 13 projects; biology serving production and life: 12 projects; automated mechanical engineering: 11 projects; healthcare: 10 projects; technology addressing climate change, environmental protection, and sustainable resource utilization: 9 projects; material technology: 7 projects; education and training: 2 projects; social and humanitarian field: 1 project.

Based on the voting results, the Selection Council of the Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation a decision to announce 79 projects and honor 5 projects and collectives, along with 27 individuals, who received international awards in the Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation 2023.

Mr. Do Van Chien, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Phan Xuan Dung, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, presented the Golden Book and Vietnam Innovation Certificate in 2023 to authors whose works are honored in the Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation 2023.

Some outstanding projects honored in the Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation 2023 are: researching, designing, and installing 5 models for treating and supplying clean drinking water at 5 schools in the water-scarce areas of Ha Giang province (school drinking water projects) by Cao Hong Ky; Spirulina cultivation model for households and diversifying products by Master Huynh Thi Phuong Thao, Van Huu Tai; Patient and caregiver management system using FaceID to enhance the efficiency of COVID-19 prevention by Doan Thanh Vu and Tran Trung Nguyen; Application of the 'Breast Milk Bank' model to improve comprehensive physical quality for the generation of people in Quang Ninh from birth by Master Le Thi Thuy Trang, Bui Minh Cuong, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, and associates; Apply the combination of TACE method and MWA method to treat hepatocellular carcinoma at Bai Chay Hospital by Le Tien Hung, Doan Thi Hue and associates; Research, design, manufacturing, installation, and implementation of an automatic control system for explosive-proof railway switches in furnace chambers by Master Pham Van Minh and colleagues; Completing the technology and equipment to recycle plastic waste serving agriculture, industry and construction by Dr. Truong Ngoc Tuan, Nguyen Viet Thanh and associates.

Through 7 editions, the announcement of Vietnam Golden Book of Innovation 2023 not only continues to acknowledge, honor, and support exemplary individuals and organizations contributing effectively to science and technology, but also serves as an occasion to propagate and disseminate scientific knowledge, connect, and integrate innovative scientific products into practical life. This especially involves spreading and arousing pride in Vietnamese intellect, nurturing the aspiration for creative labor, and dedicating efforts to the country's development by intellectuals and scientists.
