On September 20, Vinh Long Union Associations hosted the international conference on machinery, energy, and digitalization for sustainable development (IMEDS 2025).

Dr. Sc. Phan Xuan Dung, President of VUSTA
The event was co-organized by the Vietnam Association of Scientific Editing (VASE) – a member of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), and Vinh Long University of Technology Education (VLUTE).
Attending the conference were Dr. Sc. Phan Xuan Dung, President of VUSTA; Prof. Dr. Sc. Banh Tien Long, President of VASE and former Permanent Deputy Minister of Education and Training; Dr. Dang Huynh Mai, former Deputy Minister of Education and Training; and Dr. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh, Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairwoman of the Vinh Long People’s Committee.
As the first event of its kind held in Vinh Long, IMEDS 2025 has brought together hundreds of scientists, researchers, policymakers, industry experts, graduate and undergraduate students from Vietnam and abroad.
The program featured keynote sessions by 4 scientists from Canada, South Korea, Japan, and Indonesia, along with nearly 200 papers presented in oral and poster formats on topics such as mechanical engineering, automotive technology, automation, and electrical-electronics engineering. The discussions focused on issues of energy, digitalization, artificial intelligence, information technology, and new materials—directly reflecting the pressing demands of industrialization, modernization, and digital transformation.

View of the conference
The conference aimed to provide a comprehensive approach to support policymakers, industries, and researchers at different levels in positioning science and technology development, fostering innovation, and promoting digital transformation tailored to local contexts, all toward adaptive and sustainable growth. It also served to expand international cooperation and build bridges between science, technology, and practical development needs.
According to VUSTA President Phan Xuan Dung, sustainable development is not just a concept but a necessity for the future. Current global challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and environmental degradation require coordinated efforts across all sectors of society. Science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, he stressed, stand at the forefront of these efforts.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the Vinh Long People’s Committee, emphasized that the Party Committee and People’s Committee of Vinh Long always prioritize and create favorable conditions for VLUTE to fulfill its mission of training high-quality human resources, meeting the expectations of the Government, provincial leadership, and the people of the Mekong Delta.
This foundation enables the university to enhance its quality, deepen international integration, and effectively implement cooperation programs in the future. At the same time, the university is urged to further concretizie Politburo Resolution No. 71, aligning its vision and mission with the context of international integration and the nation’s path toward prosperity.
