AFEO Midterm 2026 Conference
On June 30 in Yangon, Myanmar, the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (AFEO) officially opened the plenary session of its 25th Midterm Conference. Held annually, the conference serves as a regional forum where scientists, engineers, and experts come together to exchange knowledge and discuss solutions for building a more sustainable future for ASEAN.
The 25th AFEO Midterm Conference featured a series of meetings and technical visits held from June 28 to 30. The Vietnamese delegation, led by Prof. Dr. Sc. Phan Xuan Dung, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), actively participated in the conference programme.

The AFEO Executive Board Meeting was chaired by the President of AFEO, the AFEO Secretary-General, and the President of the Myanmar Engineering Society, the host organization of AFEO Midterm 2026. The meeting was attended by leaders and engineers representing engineering organizations from ASEAN member states.

Overview of the conference
The meeting discussed a number of key issues, including the strengthening of the AFEO leadership structure, the implementation of commitments under the Joint Declaration adopted at the 43rd Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (CAFEO 43) held in the Philippines in 2025, and proposals for new initiatives and practical solutions to advance a sustainable future for ASEAN.

Established in 1982 and recognized under the ASEAN Charter, AFEO brings together the national engineering organizations of all 10 ASEAN member states with the aim of developing common standards for the recognition of engineering professionals across the region. Since becoming a full member of AFEO in 1998, VUSTA has actively implemented numerous initiatives to advance the ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer registration system, strengthen technical cooperation, and foster networks of talented engineers across various disciplines throughout ASEAN.
Over more than four decades, AFEO has continuously grown stronger, becoming a solid bridge connecting engineers from across the region. At the same time, it has made positive contributions to the development of a cohesive and adaptive ASEAN community.
