VUSTA – bridge promoting science and education cooperation between training facilities of Vietnam and Tatarstan

On the afternoon of June 8th, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) and the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) had an online working session with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan (the Russian Federation) and representatives of leading research institutes and universities of Tatarstan with the aim of promoting cooperation in science, technology and training and education.
Overview of the working session
Addressing the working session, Ms. Nguyen Mai Huong, Consul General of Vietnam in Ekaterinburg, the Russian Federation, emphasized the cooperation in science, technology and education between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, especially the Republic of Tatarstan, has always been a matter of attention of leaders of the two countries. She said that 2026 is expected to be an important milestone in promoting the cooperation in science and education between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, offering new opportunities for research and training facilities of the two countries to promote connection and implement substantial cooperation programs.
Introducing VUSTA to the delegations, Prof.Dr Chau Van Minh, Secretary of Party Committee of VUSTA, said VUSTA, an organization representing to Vietnamese science and technology intellectuals, is a member of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front. Currently, VUSTA has a system of 34 local unions, more than 90 national associations and more than 500 affiliated science and technology organizations.
Beside performing its function of consult, social criticism and inspection, scientific research, knowledge dissemination, VUSTA has always paid attention to promoting international cooperation and supporting member organizations to deepen their relationship with foreign partners. VUSTA is also a member of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (AFEO), the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP), the International Science Council (ISC),… VUSTA always participate in bilateral cooperation mechanisms with science organizations over the world.

Prof.Dr Chau Van Minh expressed the hope that the relationship between science and training organizations of Vietnam and Tatarstan will develop in terms of training, scientific research, academic exchange through organizing specialized seminars and developing joint projects. Prof.Dr Chau Van Minh affirmed VUSTA’s willingness to accompany and assist universities, research institutes and science organizations of Vietnam in connecting with partners of Tatarstan in order to promote deep, efficient and sustainable cooperation.
At the working session, Prof.Dr Nguyen Thi Mai Thanh, Rector of USTH, introduced USTH – a public university model, meeting international standards under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, was established according to the Agreement between the Vietnamese Government and the French Government. USTH is now one of the universities having the leading research capacity of Vietnam with more than 4,000 students and the system of strategic partners in more than 20 countries. Especially, 100% of the lecturers of USTH are Doctors – indicating the highest proportion regarding the university education system of Vietnam now.
The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan said that Tatarstan is one of the leading science, technology and creative innovation centers in the Russian Federation, ranking third nationally in terms of science and technology while being in the leading group of university education and science startup among students.
In the specialized exchange session, representatives of universities and research institute of Tatarstan introduced their stand out advantages, training programs and research orientation while offering cooperation opportunities with VUSTA and Vietnamese partners. Representative of the Kazan Federal University (KFU), a 200-years-old university, expressed the desire to welcome the working delegation of Vietnam to visit and work directly in Kazan to promote specific cooperation programs. In addition, Kazan State Power Engineering University said that they have signed many memorandums with Vietnamese partners and offered to cooperate in the field of digital energy and nuclear power – the university’s strength.
After exchanging viewpoints, the parties agreed to continue regular dialogue, develop specific action plans to realize the discussed contents, focusing on training, scientific research, specialist exchanging and organizing joint academic forums.
Concluding the working session, Prof.Dr Chau Van Minh expressed the belief that the session will act as the foundation for the parties to learn the ability and the cooperation need of each other; thereby, step by step implementing practical cooperation programs and scientific research.
