Binh Thuan: Master plan on building Mui Ne as a national tourist destination

On September 13, 2022, the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations of Binh Thuan (the Provincial Union) held a meeting to approve the draft questioning report on the Project titled "Master Plan on building Mui Ne as a National Tourist Destination, Binh Thuan by 2040, vision to 2050”.

Attending the meeting were Dr. Luong Thanh Son - Chairman of the Provincial Union - Chairman of the Project Review Council, members of the Council, investors and consultants.

At the meeting, participants commented on the draft questioning report on the project (prepared by the Provincial Union) and on the draft report on the planning scheme whereby members of the Review Council of the project agreed on the draft of the Union's review report; main comments on the draft report of the project. Main comments focused on outstanding issues of the project such as: The scheme needs to adjust the layout between the sections accordingly, the current assessment needs to be shown in the boundary areas of the area, clarifying the series of data collected to assess the current status, the data used must be consistent with the timeline, the source cited; The planning scheme should show the position, regional linkages and external impacts related to Mui Ne National Tourist Area in the South Central Coast, Southeast, South Central Highlands, and Southeast regions, national tourist sites, international tourist centers; impacts of Phan Thiet airport, North-South expressway and related important traffic projects; The project must show clear arguments, bases and calculations on tourism development forecast, population size forecast, land, tourism development demand (domestic and international tourists); economic and technical indicators; technical and social infrastructure design standards; clearly show the forecast of the tourism market, especially the international market, as a basis for proposing a plan to organize the tourism service system by region in order to limit conflicts in the key international tourist markets, especially accommodation services in the functional spaces of the tourist area; spatial arrangement of planned regions, domains and objects accordingly; The scheme needs to show the solutions, organize the implementation of the plan more clearly; Proposing investment priority programs and projects, solutions, implementation organization, etc.

On the basis of the draft report and comments of the members of the Council, investors and consulting firms shared difficulties in planning and explained some questioned contents. They also take into consideration comments and suggestions on the draft project and make revision before submitting it to competent authorities for approval.

The master plan on construction of Mui Ne National Tourist Area in Binh Thuan province to 2040 with a vision to 2050 is based on Decision No. 415/QD-TTg dated 22/03/2021 of the Prime Minister on approving the task of the master plan on construction of Mui Ne National Park, Binh Thuan province to 2040, with a vision to 2050. According to the Master Plan on Tourism Development of Vietnam to 2020, with a vision to 2030 approved by the Prime Minister, currently, the whole country has 49 potential sites for development of National Tourist Area, including Mui Ne of Binh Thuan Province, one of 6 places recognized as a national tourist area.
