VUSTA had a meeting with China Association for Science and Technology

The goals of the visit and working session between the two sides were to strengthen cooperation relations and share experience of the two top science and technology organizations of Vietnam and China.

Giving opening remarks, Vice President of VUSTA Pham Ngoc Linh warmly welcomed the delegation of CAST to visit and have a working session with VUSTA, and emphasized VUSTA’s honour to cooperate with CAST - an organization playing a similar role in China.

Addressing the working session, Vice President of VUSTA Pham Ngoc Linh briefly introduced the organizational structure of VUSTA to the delegation of CAST and recalled cooperation activities between VUSTA and CAST in the previous time. The two sides have had various visits, working and exchange sessions, contributing to mutual empathy and opening cooperation opportunities in areas of common interests.

Vice President of VUSTA Pham Ngoc Linh said VUSTA actively participated in the World Organization for Science Literacy (WOSL) - an initiative of CAST in order to promote science popularization on a global scale. Vice President of VUSTA Pham Ngoc Linh has once led the delegations of Vietnam in a visit to Beijing to attend a  meeting session. The second time he was the head of the Vietnamese delegation was in the reception for the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology and the Beijing Association for Science and Technology in a working visit at the headquarters of VUSTA.

In the framework of the cooperation between China and the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations, VUSTA has actively connected and taken part in the China-ASEAN Engineers Forum. In 2024, two Vietnamese engineer delegations took part in the forum organized in Nanjing, contributing to strengthening professional exchange relations and sharing experience in developing science and technology in the region.

Vice President of VUSTA Pham Ngoc Linh expressed a deep appreciation toward CAST for organizing four professional training courses for Vietnamese engineers in Beijing, Guilin and Chengdu. “This is a treasure chance for Vietnamese engineers to enhance professional capacity and to approach advancements in science and technology of China” - Mr Linh said.

Mrs. Pham Thi Bich Hong, Deputy Head of the Department of Science and Technology Popularization of VUSTA expressed interest in the knowledge assessment index, developed by the Chinese side, of residents. Similarly, VUSTA’s aim is to enhance the quality of popularization work. However, VUSTA has not developed any completed assessment index set. Therefore, VUSTA hopes to further exchange knowledge and learn about methods and the index set with the Chinese delegation while exchanging human resources in order to perform the assessment well.

The working session was organized with a warm and open atmosphere, indicating cooperation spirit and mutual respect to share experience between the two organizations. The representative of CAST spoke highly of the achievements of VUSTA in the work of science and technology popularization while affirming the willingness to share experience in terms of areas of cooperation of the two sides.

At the end of the working session, both sides agreed to maintain regular exchange to specialize cooperation objectives. Vice President of VUSTA Pham Ngoc Linh thanked the delegation of CAST for the close cooperation while affirming VUSTA’s willingness to widen cooperation forms, from research, training to science communications, thereby contributing to boosting the regional sustainable development.
