Dak Lak: Project on reducing early marriage and consanguineous marriage

On February 24, 2023, the Dak Lak Union (DAKUSTA) and the Center for Health Counseling and Community Development (CHD) collaborated to summarize the project on "Strengthening communication capacity to change behavior and reproductive health for adolescents to reduce early marriage and consanguineous marriage in ethnic minority communities” in Krong Bong district, Dak Lak province.

The project was implemented from the beginning of January 2023 to the end of February 2023, and funded by the Canadian Embassy. CHD is the main receiver and implementer. DAKUSTA is a unit that coordinates implementation in 03 communes and 07 schools in Krong Bong district, Dak Lak province.

The aim of the project is to: reduce the number of child marriages, consanguineous marriages and adolescent childbearing through capacity building, increased male participation, ethnic minority women, teachers, students' parents from schools, and people in the community in the project communes of Krong Bong district.

The project has conducted a survey on the current status of knowledge and attitudes of parents, adolescents, people in the community...; survey of health service facilities and communication materials and products; meetings to report and share initial assessment results to leaders and relevant departments and agencies to develop interventions and change impacts; skills training for core groups including teachers, students, students' parents, health care collaborators; developing communication materials and organizing communication activities in accordance with national traditions and culture; supporting school counseling skills to answer questions, discuss solutions to health problems, safe sex, prevention of pregnancy, unwanted pregnancy, forced marriage, etc. by teachers and students of the core group.
