Vice President Pham Ngoc Linh attended Opening Ceremony of CAFEO 42 Conference
On October 22, 2024, VUSTA’s Vice President Pham Ngoc Linh attended the Opening Ceremony of the 42nd Annual Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (CAFEO 42) held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.
CAFEO 42, hosted by the Institution of Engineers Malaysia, gathered nearly 1,000 experts, scientists, and engineers from nine member organizations of AFEO, along with other scientific and technical organizations from the region and around the world. The delegation from the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), led by Vice President Pham Ngoc Linh, included leaders from the Union’s branches in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Nghe An, member associations, affiliated organizations, and nearly 20 engineers from the Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation and Petrovietnam Ca Mau Fertilizer Joint Stock Company.

The grand opening was held at the Sabah International Convention Centre. Mr. Shahelmey bin Yahya, Deputy Chief Minister, Minister of Public Works of Sabah, Malaysia delivered the opening remarks and presented commemorative gifts to the heads of delegations from AFEO member countries. In welcome speech, Professor Jeffrey Chiang Choong Luin, President of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia, emphasized that with the theme “Charting ASEAN Growth with Digital Transformation, Smart Engineering and Green Solutions” CAFEO 42 serves as a platform for exchanging experiences, technical advancements, and fostering collaboration within the engineering community, thereby contributing to a dynamic and sustainable development ASEAN.

During the opening ceremony, AFEO honored numerous distinguished engineers and leaders for their significant contributions to the development of science and technology. The CAFEO conference, running from October 22 to 24, features a range of activities, including specialized workshops on topics such as environmental engineering, disaster prevention, training and capacity building for engineers, electrical engineering, boiler engineering, electronics engineering, as well as meetings of AFEO Women Engineers, AFEO Young Engineers, technical tours, cultural experiences, recognition of ASEAN registered engineers, and sessions of the ASEAN Engineer Register and AFEO Governing Board.
