Overseas Vietnamese intellectuals to contribute to nations’s development

The General Secretary and President expressed the desire for Vietnamese intellectuals in the United States and around the world to unite and continue contributing to the nation.

During a visit to attend the United Nations Summit of the Future and the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79) and to work in the United States, on September 22, General Secretary and President Tô Lâm had a cordial meeting with generations of Vietnamese intellectuals living in Houston, Texas (USA).

General Secretary and President Tô Lâm expressed his joy at connecting with the familiar Vietnamese intellectuals and extended his best wishes and warm regards to the Vietnamese community in the United States. He emphasised that the Party and State of Việt Nam regarded overseas Vietnamese as an integral part of the nation.

He acknowledged the increasing success of the Vietnamese diaspora, highlighting their valuable contributions to the development of the US and their important role in strengthening Việt Nam-US relations.

The top leader expressed deep appreciation for the dedication, vision, and practical contributions of overseas Vietnamese intellectuals, which demonstrate their enduring ties to their homeland, no matter where they reside.

He expressed hope that Vietnamese intellectuals in the US and around the world would continue to unite and contribute to Việt Nam's future, ushering in a new era of progress.

On behalf of the group of Vietnamese intellectuals in Houston, Vũ Văn Lê expressed his emotion at meeting General Secretary and President Tô Lâm after many years.

Lê emphasised that despite living and working in the US for many years, he remained deeply proud of Việt Nam's heroic history and was pleased to see the country’s continued development.

He said that Vietnamese blood runs through him, and generations of Vietnamese intellectuals had never stopped thinking about Việt Nam and contributing their knowledge and efforts for a prosperous future for the country.

Lê stressed that in every professional field, whether it is engineering, medicine, or technology, Vietnamese individuals excel. He expressed a desire to make meaningful contributions to the country's development, helping Việt Nam move into a new era of progress.

He also hoped that the younger generation of Vietnamese intellectuals in the US and abroad would continue to look towards their homeland and make even more impactful contributions.

On this occasion, the group of Vietnamese intellectuals donated US$10,000 to support localities recently affected by Typhoon Yagi.
