Delegation of Shanghai S&T Association worked with VUSTA and visited the Heritage Center of Vietnamese Scientists
On November 21, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), the delegation of the Shanghai Science and Technology Association (SAST) led by Mr. Liu Wei had an official working session with the leaders of VUSTA.
This is an important activity to strengthen the friendly relationship and promote international cooperation in the field of science and technology between the two organizations.
Attending the meeting were Mr. Pham Ngoc Linh - Vice President of VUSTA, leaders of specialized departments, and leaders of the VUSTA in Hanoi, Hai Duong and Nghe An.
During the working session, the two sides discussed the organizational structure, functions and tasks of each side and proposed possibilities for future cooperation. In particular, the two sides also shared outstanding initiatives in the fields of scientific research, technology development and introduced major international programs that both organizations are actively participating in, such as the International Federation of Scientific Unions (ICSU) and the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO).
At the meeting, Mr. Pham Ngoc Linh emphasized the role of VUSTA in mobilizing domestic and foreign scientific intellectuals. He also expressed his desire to cooperate with SAST in science museum projects, develop technological initiatives, and especially connect businesses between the two countries. SAST, with its experience operating in Shanghai - China's leading innovation center, also highly appreciated the role of international cooperation, emphasizing the importance of expanding relations with VUSTA, in order to promote potential and promote scientific innovations. In addition, the contents of delegation exchanges and enhancing bilateral cooperation in the future were also mentioned and received consensus from both sides.
The meeting took place in an open, cooperative, friendly and professional atmosphere. This is considered an important step in establishing strategic cooperation projects in scientific research and technology development between the two organizations in the future.
After attending the Workshop on Strengthening International Cooperation on Science towards Green Growth organized by VUSTA on the morning of November 21 and working with VUSTA on the afternoon of November 21, on November 22, the SAST delegation and VUSTA visited the Vietnam Scientists Heritage Center and the Vietnam Scientists Heritage Park in Hoa Bin.
Director of the Center for Heritage of Vietnamese Scientists, Dr. Le Van Hoa welcomed SAST to visit and presented gifts to SAST representative, Mr. Luu Vy.
Director of MEDDOM introduced functions, tasks, history, and some typical activities of MEDDOM. Accordingly, MEDDOM is a castle that preserves memories to educate, orientate learning, work and contribute to future generations with the function of researching, preserving and storing tangible and intangible cultural values through memories, documents and personal artifacts of Vietnamese scientists; introducing and displaying the lives, contributions and scientific work of scientists, honoring scientists who have devoted themselves to the cause of Vietnamese science, to the Fatherland of Vietnam; and building a database/data bank of memories, documents, artifacts, and life biographies of Vietnamese scientists.
Dr. Le Van Hoa introduced the history and some outstanding activities of the Heritage Center of Vietnamese Scientists. The Center was established in 2008. In 2010, the Center held a ceremony to receive the first collection of documents and artifacts of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Nhan (Medicine). In 2012, the Center conducted the first research and collection trip to Ho Chi Minh City, marking the expansion of research and collection of documents of scientists in the South. The Center has carried out a number of outstanding activities such as publishing the first photo book about 5 Vietnamese medical scientists, exhibiting "Aspiration to learn and create", launching the book series "Stories of artifacts", opening the exhibition "Deep in each souvenir", exhibiting "Geology career stories", one of the series of exhibitions preparing for the construction of a museum about Vietnamese scientists in the future.
