The Center for Capacity Building, Support for Women and Children (CSWC) shared the outcomes of the Project

On March 28, 2025, CSWC , in collaboration with Planète Enfants & Développement (PE&D), organized the closing conference of the project “Joining hands to support the prevention system of children trafficking in Southern and Central Vietnam”. The project was approved and overseen by VUSTA, and implemented from 2022 to 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City and Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province.

The event welcomed over 50 participants, including representatives from Ho Chi Minh City’s government agencies, social organizations, NGOs, shelters, informal schools, and project partners. Attendees highly appreciated the project’s effectiveness and practicality, and offered valuable recommendations to foster stronger collaboration and scale up activities in the next phase.

The project focused on three main objectives:

- Enhancing the capacity of local partners and social workers in shelters to protect and support victims of trafficking and/or labor exploitation;

- Improving socio-economic reintegration for children who are victims of trafficking and labor exploitation;

- Preventing child trafficking and exploitation, and reducing stigma against victims within communities.

After three years of implementation, the project has met and exceeded many of its targets, with notable achievements such as:

- 26 social workers trained in case management and the family accompaniment method (EDM);

- 650 local officials and core collaborators equipped with knowledge to identify and support trafficking victims;

- 391 members of the child protection network engaged through experience-sharing workshops and forums;

- 33 technical meetings conducted with social workers, psychologists, and local officials;

- 200+ children have received comprehensive support in healthcare, psychosocial care, legal aid, scholarships, health insurance, and life skills training;

- 60 communication sessions held on 16 topics, attracting 1,400+ child participants;

- 54 life skills classes organized on 18 topics for 926 children;

- 50 children aged 12+ received vocational training, with 78% completing and earning certificates;

- 42 children supported to reunite with their families through verification and connection activities;

- 500 community members reached through awareness campaigns on anti-trafficking and child protection.

PE&D will continue its collaboration with CSWC to implement the next phase: the project “Protecting Children in Especially Difficult Circumstances in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City” during 2025–2026. The project has been officially approved by VUSTA, following endorsements from relevant ministries and the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee. It is considered the second phase in the ongoing journey to support and protect vulnerable children.

Meeting with Vietnam Electricity to prepare for AFEO Midterm 2025 Conference

Assessment of the current situation and proposed solutions to mitigate the impacts of open burning in Vietnam
Despite 68% of surveyed individuals expressing environmental awareness and 80% acknowledging health concerns, a significant portion still plans to continue "field burning" (open burning in agriculture). The primary justification lies in the perception that it is effective, fast, and inexpensive. This highlights the urgent need for targeted communication strategies to alter such practices.

Occupational health and safety is a shared responsibility. Improving workplace conditions is crucial to minimizing the harmful impacts of work environments on employees. Conducting accurate, fair, and balanced assessments and classifications of physically demanding, hazardous, and toxic jobs is essential to fostering healthier and safer working conditions.
