9 Vietnamese scientists ranked among the world's top 10,000 most influential researchers
Elsevier Publishing House has recently published the 2024 list of the world's most influential scientists, in which Vietnam has 9 representatives among the top 10,000 scientists. Professor Nguyen Xuan Hung is also listed among the top 100,000.
The list, published by Elsevier, was compiled by a group of scientists from Stanford University (USA) based on data extracted from the Scopus database.
Among the Vietnamese scientists who are regularly working in the country, 9 have made it into the top 10,000 in the world, and 60 have been ranked in the top 100,000 of most cited and influential scientists globally in 2024, showing an increase in both quantity and ranking compared to previous years.

In the top 10,000 scientists in the world for 2024, Vietnam is represented by 9 scientists, including Prof. DSc. Nguyen Dinh Duc and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hoang Son from Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Prof. Dr. Tran Xuan Bach from Hanoi Medical University; Prof. Vo Xuan Vinh and Dr. Nguyen Phuc Canh from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City; Dr. Tran Nguyen Hai and Dr. Hoang Nhat Duc from Duy Tan University; Assoc. Prof. Hoang Anh Tuan from Dong A University; and Dr. Pham Thai Binh from the University of Transport Technology.
Expanding the ranking to the top 100,000, Vietnam has 60 scientists listed in 2024, an increase of 13 compared to last year. In addition to the 9 highly ranked scientists mentioned above, there are 51 more Vietnamese scientists, including:

The ranking is based on criteria such as composite score (scientific impact), total number of citations (excluding self-citations), Hirsch h-index, Schreiber hm-index, number of citations for papers published as a single author, number of citations for papers as the first author and corresponding author, and last author, among others.
The scientists are classified into 22 scientific fields and 176 subfields (disciplines/specialties).
