The 57th meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Information and Culture in Hoi An

From November 22 to 26, in Hoi An, in Hoi An City, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Ministry of Information and Communications to organize the 57th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information with the theme “Digital Transformation: Access for All".

The conference welcomed attendance of delegations from ministries, agencies in charge of culture and information of ASEAN member states, ASEAN Secretariat, International Federation of Arts Councils and Cultural Agencies (IFACCA).

The official opening ceremony of the 57th Conference of the ASEAN Culture and Information Committee was scheduled to take place on the morning of November 24 and chaired by the Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong chaired, with the participation of representatives of leaders of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, delegation of leaders of ministries, agencies of ASEAN countries in charge of culture and information, representatives of embassies of ASEAN countries in Vietnam.

After the opening ceremony, the 57th meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information held a Plenary Session chaired by the Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism – Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hoa.

The 57th meeting of the ASEAN Information and Culture Committee took place in Hoi An from November 22-26, 2022.

On the basis of Vietnam's initiative, the theme is "Digital Transformation: Access for All", The conference focused on discussing to continue to have orientations and propose measures to link digital transformation in ASEAN cultural and information cooperation. The 57th Conference of the Culture and Information Committee also considered and approved cooperation projects to be implemented in 2023 in the field of culture, ASEAN information was submitted by the ASEAN Cultural Subcommittee and the ASEAN Information Subcommittee, focusing on the project on workshops, training, capacity building, co-production and dissemination of publications in the field of culture and information, preservation and promotion of cultural heritage, digitization, support for businesses, promoting digital transformation in the fields of culture, information, press and media and cooperation in prevention of fake news in ASEAN...

Within the framework of the Conference, delegates from ministries and agencies in charge of culture and arts attending the ASEAN Cultural Subcommittee Meeting hosted by the Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Phuong Hoa chaired to review the contents of cultural and artistic cooperation, consider, propose orientations for the implementation and unification of a number of programs and projects on art performance exchange activities, seminars, exchange events ... submitted to the 57th Conference of the ASEAN Culture and Information Committee for approval, typically programs and projects related to ASEAN performing arts, organizing the ASEAN brass instrument orchestra, the ASEAN forum on green cultural enterprises, recovering cultural and artistic activities in Southeast Asia after Covid-19, ASEAN workshop on packaging traditional food and promoting products in the market”, promoting the culture of saying no to plastic…

In parallel, the ASEAN Information Subcommittee Meeting was chaired by the Director General of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Information and Communications Trieu Minh Long with the participation of delegates from the ministries, ASEAN information agency focused on reviewing and exchanging content on ASEAN information cooperation, unifying a number of information programs and projects related to promoting digital transformation in the information field, press, media and cooperation to prevent fake news in ASEAN… submit to the 57th Meeting of the ASEAN Information and Culture Committee for approval for implementation in 2023.

The 57th Conference of the Committee on Culture and Information was held to fulfill Vietnam's ASEAN membership responsibilities in the specialized cooperation mechanism, implementing the Action Plan for the period 2021-2025 implementing the Scheme on formulating and implementing the Plan to realize the goals of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) to 2025, The Government's Action Program on Propaganda and Promotion of ASEAN Vision 2030.

More specifically, the conference was held within the framework of the National Tourism Year 2022 in Quang Nam province, contributing to the promotion of Vietnam's culture and tourism potential, enhancing the image of Vietnam's stable development in the post-Covid-19 period, at the same time, strengthening friendship and mutual understanding in the ASEAN Community, and raising awareness of ASEAN identity in the international community.
