Vietnam Young Initiative - InnoCity 2021 Competition

Recently, Vietnam Young Initiative - InnoCity 2021 was held under the patronage of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Association (VUSTA) and in coordination with Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA), Secretariat of Vietnamese Student Association in the Netherlands the Embassy of Vietnam in Netherlands and Global Vietnamese Young Scholars Association (Global VYSA).

Aiming to discover young potentials, InnoCity creates a land gathering all resources to maximize the potential of Vietnamese youth, “Young people and students play a crucial role in start-up and innovation” which is aligned with Vietnam Student Association’s agenda.

The InnoCity 2021 program with the theme "Smart City", where the urban daily activities are “technologically equipped” and thus aim at advancing human beings’ living standards. 5 main items of the Competition are in line with specific contents: Environment – Energy; Smart Education; Digital Medical – Healthcare; Transportation – Logistics; Other areas that are urgent and have an impact on smart cities, such as tourism, finance, technology, etc.

The competition is open to young people and students aged 18-30 who are studying at European institutions, universities, and colleges or living in European countries; or at least one person in a team living or studying at European is also eligible to register as collective team (each team at least 2 members and no more than 5 members).

After application and proposal (round 1), 12 selected teams will be trained and develop prototype (round 2). They will be guided by distinct experts in various fields to complete their ideas and prototype for pitching their business plan to the judge. This final round is expected to take place in Netherlands and Vietnam in December 2021.

The first season of InnoCity aspires to become a program that is guided by the unlimited ability of the young forces to create innovation, apply IT, science and technology, and startups, in the context of “smart city” - a trend model of major countries worldwide. Along with the vision and belief that outstanding young individuals will create “Unicorns” with Vietnamese origin to the world, InnoCity aims to create a “city” of resources to maximize the capabilities of Vietnamese youths.

InnoCity is the first and biggest playgrounds for the talented young Vietnamese generation, opening up opportunities to learn, challenge, integrate and contribute to the country and the national innovation ecosystem in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic causing many impacts to the world and the Vietnamese community outside country. InnoCity may help to broaden the connections of Vietnamese generation and a wide network of leading experts and entrepreneurs, both from domestic and international towards a common goal of supporting young potential generation. In addition, the program contributes to strengthen diplomatic relationships and international cooperation between Vietnam and Europe; enhance opportunities to attract talents to serve the country, access to excellent human resources and valuable initiatives for future development for partners, investors and organizations.
