21 1st prizes awarded at the 34th National Student Mechanics Olympiad
The Vietnam Mechanics Association, in collaboration with VUSTA, organized the 34 th National Student Mechanics Olympiad Award Ceremony on June 1st 2024.

Attending the ceremony were VUSTA President Phan Xuan Dung, Vietnam Mechanics Association Chairman Nguyen Tien Khiem, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) Vice President Nguyen Phong Dien, along with representatives of teachers and students from universities participating in the 2024 National Mechanics Olympiad.
The National Mechanics Olympiad is an annual competition organized by the Vietnam Mechanics Association to foster the next generation of Vietnamese mechanics, with this year (2024) marking the Olympiad’s 35th anniversary. The 34th National Student Mechanics Olympiad took place on May 5 th, 2024 at Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City’s respective Universities of Science & Technology, with 7 traditional subjects (Engineering Mechanics, Material Strength, Structural Mechanics, Hydraulics, Soil Mechanics, Machinery Principles, Machinery Details) with the addition of Informatics Applications in Machinery Details. The Olympiad had a total of 1,135 students as contestants, who came from 35 universities, colleges and science and technology institutes nationwide.

The organizing committee selected 668 individual prizes including 21 1st prizes (accounting for 2% total), 114 2nd prizes (accounting for 10%), 256 3rd prizes (accounting for 23%) and 277 consolation prizes (accounting for 24%), and 29 group prizes including 9 1st prizes, 9 2nd prizes and 11 3rd prizes.
At the ceremony, VUSTA President Phan Xuan Dung highlighted his appreciation for the Vietnam Mechanics Association’s effort in maintaining an educational playground for students and teachers of mechanics throughout the country over the past decades, and in motivating and promoting young talents, helping them build their creativity and later on become full-fledged scientists and contribute to Vietnam’s development.
President Phan Xuan Dung emphasized how VUSTA is always concerned with discovering and fostering young talents in the field of science and technology; VUSTA will continue to coordinate with member associations to organize Olympiads for Mathematics, Physics, Informatics, Chemistry, Biology and Loa Thanh Awards in the near future.
