The workshop “Book – the path to knowledge”

In the morning of April 20th in Hanoi, the workshop “Book – the path to knowledge” was co-organized by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) and the Knowledge Publishing House.

The workshop was attended by Dr.Sc. Phan Xuan Dung – President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations; Assoc.Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Thao – Vice President cum Chairman of Inspection Committee affiliated to VUSTA; MA. Nguyen Quyet Chien – General Secretary of VUSTA; MA. Pham Thi Bich Hong – Deputy Head of Communication and Knowledge Dissemination Department cum Director of Knowledge Publishing House; together with former leaders of VUSTA, representatives of departments, divisions affiliated to VUSTA and staff of Knowledge Publishing House and Mr. Nguyen Nguyen, Director of Authority of Publication, Printing and Distribution – Ministry of Information and Communication.

Assoc.Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Thao – Vice President of VUSTA delivered a speech at the workshop.

The workshop is an event to celebrate the Vietnam Book Day (April 21). At the workshop, representatives of Knowledge Publishing House and the intelligentsia having experience in leadership coming from state agencies specializing in science, technology and well-known universities delivered a number of speeches.

Mr. Nguyen Nguyen, Director of Authority of Publication, Printing and Distribution – Ministry of Information and Communication delivered a speech at the workshop.

Delegates at the workshop shared their experiences in activities of publishing in the 4.0 era, especially the development of e-books compared to traditional books. The delegates also presented solutions to solve difficulties because present readers preferred reading e-books than traditional books.

MA. Pham Bich Hong – Deputy Head of Communication and Knowledge Dissemination cum Director of Knowledge Publishing House spoke at the workshop.

In accordance with delegates, publishers including Knowledge Publishing House need to consolidate professional organization, which range from key leaders to staff at different departments. Particularly, it is necessary to boost the work of book compilation and approaching the readers who are interested in the books issued by Knowledge Publishing House. Such publishers also need to modernize management tools, especially paying attention to digitalization of books in order to meet the demand of current readers.
