VUSTA Delegation to Attend the 33rd FEIAP General Assembly in Thailand
The 33rd FEIAP General Assembly convened hundreds of engineers, scientists, experts, entrepreneurs, and managers from member economies across the Asia–Pacific region. The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of a representative of the Royal Family of Thailand, who delivered an important keynote address.
From July 23 to 25, 2025, a delegation of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), led by Mr. Nguyễn Quyết Chiến, Secretary-General, attended the 33rd General Assembly of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) in Bangkok, Thailand. The delegation also included representatives from VUSTA’s Department of Science and International Cooperation and Office.

FEIAP is a non-profit professional body and an official member of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO). Established in 1978 as FEISEAP, the Federation is committed to advancing the engineering profession throughout the region. One of its primary functions is to grant international accreditation to engineering education programs, thereby enhancing career opportunities for engineers in the global marketplace. At present, FEIAP comprises 23 member organizations from countries and economies including China, South Korea, Japan, India, Australia, Peru, and several ASEAN member states.

At this Assembly, delegates reviewed FEIAP’s activities in 2025 and outlined plans for 2026, including financial reports presented by the Secretariat. Reports from the Technical Standing Committees—covering Engineering Education, Environmental Sustainability, Disaster Prevention, Emerging Technologies for Professional Development, and the Young Engineers’ Group—were presented and formally adopted following prior discussions and revisions.
The Assembly also deliberated and approved of matters of governance, including the election and relection of the President, Vice-President, member of committees, the Secretary-General, and the Internal Auditing Board. Also at the board meeting, existing membership organizations discussed and considered of the membership status of 3 economies including North Korea, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Secretary-General Nguyễn Quyết Chiến sent an invitation from Prof. Dr. Phan Xuân Dũng, President of VUSTA, to Mr. Aung Kyaw Myat, President of FEIAP, to attend the 24th Midterm Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (AFEO), to be hosted by VUSTA in Da Nang, Vietnam, from August 5 to 8, 2025.
The program of the Assembly also featured the 8th Special Session under the theme “Advanced Engineering for Net Zero Innovation”. These sessions attracted experts from FEIAP’s member economies and a large number of delegates who discussed and shared experience, initiatives and good practices in promoting innovation, technology transfer, private sector engagement in sustainable technology transformation, and the development of clean-tech ecosystems connecting large corporations with small and medium-sized enterprises. Especially, discussion on the support program of the governments on sustainable technology transfer and friendly environment program.

In parallel, the 2025 International Engineering Exhibition showcased cutting-edge technologies, innovative solutions, and engineering achievements of FEIAP member economies. Delegates also provided technical tour to visit several sites in Bangkok to observe modern Thai engineering practices, including fire safety systems and the construction of underground infrastructure for metro stations.

The VUSTA delegation actively participated in all sessions and activities of the event, thereby affirming VUSTA’s commitment to international integration, cooperation in science, engineering, and technology towards sustainable development and the realization of the Net Zero goal.
