Binh Thuan: Applying AI – a breakthrough direction for tourism industry

On May 16th, in Phan Thiet City, the Federation of Associations teamed up with the Binh Thuan Tourism Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association (HCA) to organize a workshop titled “Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence Applications - Connecting the Binh Thuan Tourism Ecosystem”.

The event brought together leaders from provincial departments and agencies, top technology experts, tourism businesses, travel agencies, accommodation providers, and representatives from the media who covered the workshop.

In his opening speech, Mr. Luong Thanh Son, Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Associations, highlighted the vital role of digital transformation and AI adoption in ensuring the sustainable growth of the local tourism sector. Amid rising competition and increasingly diverse visitor expectations, leveraging advanced technology not only enhances customer experiences but also streamlines management, fosters new product development, and boosts tourism promotion. His remarks underscored the government’s firm commitment to facilitating access for tourism businesses and organizations to digital and AI solutions for practical application.

The workshop was vibrant, featuring a series of specialized presentations that explored different facets of digital transformation and AI applications in tourism. Experts shared cutting-edge research, practical insights, and showcased advanced technological solutions well-suited to the tourism landscape in Binh Thuan.

During the session titled “Digital Transformation – an Inevitable Trend in Tourism,” speakers focused on the current status and challenges faced by tourism businesses in Binh Thuan amid the digital era, emphasizing digital transformation as a key foundation for sustainable tourism development.

In the topic “Emerging Technology Trends - Virtual Reality (VR), Big Data, and Platforms Connecting the Tourism Ecosystem”, presenters highlighted multimedia platform solutions for linking the tourism ecosystem, introduced new audiovisual technologies and devices, smart camera systems for hotel management, as well as 3D digitization and VR360 solutions for enhancing tourist sites.

The topic “Applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Enhance Customer Experience” garnered significant interest from tourism businesses. Speakers shared valuable insights on leveraging AI for managing and operating tourism enterprises, including the use of chatbots, virtual assistants, data analytics, and tourism trend forecasting. They also presented AI-driven solutions supporting digital transformation in tourism, as well as robotic applications to address workforce needs in the hospitality sector.

Beyond the keynote presentations, attendees actively participated in discussions, raising questions and exchanging practical experiences. Numerous valuable suggestions and actionable solutions were proposed, focusing on key areas such as building digital infrastructure, assisting businesses in their digital transformation journey, developing a comprehensive digital tourism ecosystem, and ensuring data security and privacy.

In his closing remarks, a representative from the Binh Thuan Tourism Association commended the workshop’s positive outcomes. The feedback and proposed solutions will be consolidated by the Organizing Committee and submitted to provincial authorities for review and integration into concrete action plans. Leaders of the province reiterated their strong commitment to fostering a smart, modern tourism industry in Binh Thuan, underpinned by digital and AI technologies, with the goal of enhancing visitor experiences, optimizing management efficiency, and promoting sustainable tourism growth.

The scientific workshop on “Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence Applications -Connecting Binh Thuan’s Tourism Ecosystem” concluded successfully, marking the beginning of a promising new chapter for the province’s tourism sector.
