Thanh Hoa: workshop to address the shortage of direct farm labor in rural areas
The workshop is organized the Thanh Hoa Union of Science and Technology Associations (Union), in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology, Agriculture Institute on 27th May 2025
Overview of the workshop
Chaired the conference were President Dr. Nguyen Van Phat, Vice President Nguyen Quoc Uy, and Director of the Provincial Institute of Agriculture Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hai. Attending the workshop were experts, scientists, members of the Union's Executive Committee, representatives from the Department of Science and Technology, the Agriculture Institute, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and other relevant units.
According to Notice No. 488-TB/VPTU dated November 12, 2024, about the conclusions of the Provincial Party Standing Committee at the Conference on meeting, consultation, and dialogue between provincial leaders and the intellectuals in the province in 2024, the Union and relevant units were assigned to provide consultation, make proposals, and offer initiatives to help to address issues in agricultural development and the new rural development. Among these, the solution to the shortage of labor in rural areas, particularly skilled workers participating in agricultural production, especially in high-tech and organic agriculture, has been identified as a pressing issue.

The delegates focused on discussing assessing the current potential and advantages of Thanh Hoa's agricultural industry, the development structure of the industry in the upcoming period; identifying the agricultural labor structure to meet the demands of high-tech and organic agriculture development; also, proposing solutions to address the shortage of skilled labor in agricultural production, especially in high-tech and organic agriculture, as assigned by the Provincial Party Standing Committee in Conclusion Notice No. 488-TB/VPTU dated November 12, 2024.
