VUSTA VicePresidentPham Quang Thaodelivered speech at the event

Speaking at the event, Vice President Pham Quang Thao emphasized that as the socio-political organization representing Vietnam’s scientific and technological intellectuals, VUSTA has always considered participation in environmental protection and biodiversity conservation a key and ongoing mission. Over the years, VUSTA has collaborated with central and local agencies, leveraged international resources, and guided its member associations, scientific organizations, experts, and scientists in carrying out numerous research programs, advisory initiatives, awareness campaigns, and hundreds of projects on biodiversity conservation and sustainable development nationwide. He highly commended Sóc Trăng Province for its proactive and innovative approach in coordinating activities to mark the International Day for Biological Diversity, which has helped raise public awareness, particularly among youth, of their responsibility toward nature and the environment. He also expressed hope for enhanced cooperation with state agencies, socio-political organizations, businesses, and communities to advance green and circular economic models, apply scientific and technological advancements in natural resource conservation, restore ecosystems, and improve people’s quality of life.

According to Nguyễn Việt Mười, Rector of Sóc Trăng Vocational College, as a leading vocational training institution in the province, the college not only equips students with professional skills but also integrates sustainable development, environmental awareness, and biodiversity conservation into its curriculum. The school pledges to enhance environmental education for all faculty, staff, and students by organizing extracurricular activities, field trips, tree-planting campaigns, and eco-conscious learning models. It also encourages students to research and develop green technologies for eco-friendly production and daily life while aligning career training with the demands of a sustainable green economy. "If students today embrace a philosophy of harmony with nature, they will become tomorrow’s skilled technicians, workers, and entrepreneurs—individuals who value and safeguard biodiversity in every field they enter," Mười emphasized.

At the event, Mr. Pham Van Tung, Director of Soc Trang Province’s Environmental Protection Department, expressed gratitude to VUSTA for its collaboration in organizing the Biodiversity Day celebrations. He presented a report on the current state of environmental protection and biodiversity conservation efforts in Soc Trang and called on all cadres, civil servants, public employees, youth union members, armed forces, and local residents to strengthen awareness campaigns on environmental and biodiversity protection. He also urged the community to reduce the use of materials that generate waste, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.
