After 3 years of implementation, the project has achieved many positive results and created many sustainable livelihood models that combine mangrove forest protection and limit the impact of climate change. Specifically, the Ca Mau Women's Union in collaboration with the SRD Center, Mui Ca Mau National Park, and Tam Giang protection forest management board has organized 46 training courses on aquaculture techniques under the mangrove canopy for groups of farmers with productive land. These courses had the participation of 1,300 households in the project area in Tam Giang Dong and Dat Mui commune.
The project has assisted 244 households in implementing the improved 2-stage extensive farming model of commercial blood cockle, mud clam, and tiger prawn, as well as the commercial crab farming model for households with productive land at Tam Giang Dong and Dat Mui commune. Each model is worth 10 million VND. The project has also provided financial support for the construction of 2 shrimp nursery tanks (stage 1) of the improved 2-stage extensive tiger prawn farming model at these communes, with each tank costing around 70 million VND.
In addition, the project has encouraged the participation of women, contributing to gender equality in forest protection management and adaptation to climate change.
