Launching the project of Center for Sustainable Development of Mountainous Communities
On July 31, in Yen Bai province, VUSTA Vice President Pham Ngoc Linh attended the launching conference of the project "Supporting livelihood models and enhancing access to agricultural value chains for communities to contribute to the income improvement and gender equality in four communes of Tran Yen and Yen Binh districts, Yen Bai province" led by SUDECOM.

The conference was attended by leaders of the Communication and Knowledge Dissemination Department, the International Cooperation Department of VUSTA; representatives from Oxfam Novib; representatives of relevant authorities of Yen Bai province; leaders of the Yen Bai provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations; and representatives of the localities in Yen Bai province where the project is being implemented.
Mr. Nguyen Van Y, former General Secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee and former President of the Yen Bai Union of Associations, delivered a speech.
At the conference, a summary report and the project activity plan were presented by Ms. Thanh Chung, Vice Director of the SUDECOM. Accordingly, the project will be implemented over 18 months, from July 2024 to December 2025, in four communes of Tran Yen and Yen Binh districts of Yen Bai province. The project's goal is to enhance knowledge about value chains and improve business planning skills for local people to implement livelihood models that contribute to increasing income, improving quality of life, and promoting gender equality in the project areas. The conference also annouced the establishment of the Project Management Board, the Project Management Regulations, and the Guidelines for establishing commune-level management boards.
In conclusion, Vice President Pham Ngoc Linh highly appreciated the great preparation work of the Project Management Board and the SUDECOM. The Vice President expressed the hope that during the implementation process, the project would receive support and cooperation from Yen Bai province and the four communes in Tran Yen and Yen Binh districts. The Vice President requested that the SUDECOM regularly report activities to VUSTA and relevant authorities during the project implementation. Additionally, the Vice President urged the Project Management Board to enhance communication efforts about the project. Information about the project should be continuously disseminated before, during, and after the project's implementation. Publicizing the project will help create consensus, thereby facilitating smoother project execution.
