Vietnam wins 3 Gold Medals at the 2024 International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX)

Selected from the award-winning projects in the 19th National Youth and Children's Creativity Contest in 2023, five scientific projects from Vietnam were showcased by the Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technological Creations (VIFOTEC) at the 2024 International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX).

The 2024 International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX) was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia, from May 16 to 18. The Vietnamese delegation attending the exhibition was led by Mr. Phan Xuan Dung, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) cum Chairman of VIFOTEC.

President of VUSTA cum Chairman of VIFOTEC Phan Xuan Dung, who led the Vietnamese delegation at the 2024 International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX), stated that this opportunity to gain real-world experience at international exhibitions has inspired the younger generation to pursue their dreams of becoming valuable scientists for the country. Training in science and fostering creative potential from an early age is a very sound direction, igniting a passion for natural sciences among the youth.

The Vietnamese delegation won 3 Gold Medals and 2 Silver Medals at this Exhibition

The five projects selected by VIFOTEC for this exhibition included: Introducing a website about the Journey to the Heritage of Bac Ninh folk songs; The Intelligence Race; Utilizing recycled materials from waste to simulate the metamorphosis cycle of insects; A Motion model of Hanoi - The Capital of Creative and Cultural Development; and a Device for making kumquat jam from fresh kumquats. Among these, the project introducing the website "Journey to the Heritage of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs" won the special prize, and the "Intelligence Race" project won first prize in the 19th National Youth and Children's Creativity Contest.

The "Journey to the Heritage of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs" website, with its easy-to-search and accessible interface, introduces one of Vietnam's intangible cultural heritages to international friends, showcasing a very distinctive cultural feature. Meanwhile, the "Intelligence Race" is a model simulating car races based on knowledge from intelligence competitions. The projects displayed at this exhibition attracted international visitors for observation and exchange.

Speaking at the opening session of ITEX 2024, Malaysia's Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Chang Lih Kang, stated that ITEX would be the best platform to showcase creativity, connect with experts in new industries, build partnerships, and share experiences. Within the framework of ITEX 2024, the World Young Inventors Exhibition (WYIE), the ASEAN Young Inventors Exhibition (AYIE), and the Malaysian Young Inventors Exhibition (MYIE) were also organized, promising to bring groundbreaking inventions and cutting-edge technologies with over 700 international creative projects from 15 countries spanning 25 classifications including Artificial Intelligence (AI), agriculture, automation, biotechnology, healthcare, and more. The exhibition also noted the participation of the youngest inventor, who is only 6 years old. In his speech, Chang Lih Kang emphasized the importance of nurturing the younger generation and regarded ITEX as a "beacon" for future generations, fostering a culture of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.

ITEX is an annual exhibition showcasing Asia's latest innovations. In 1989, the Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDEX) first initiated the exhibition to introduce creative products and new technologies, attracting investors' attention and seeking startup opportunities.

Held from May 16 to 18 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), ITEX 2024 exemplifies Malaysia's commitment to harnessing the power of innovation to drive economic growth and social progress, positioning Malaysia as a high-tech nation.
