VUSTA approved 2021 Community HIV diagnosis project

The Community HIV diagnosis project for the 2021-2022 period by Institute for Social Development Studies (ISDS), an affiliated science and technology organization, with non-refundable funding from AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), has been approved by VUSTA by releasing Decision 563/QĐ-LHHVN dated August 4, 2021.

The project has been deployed in Hanoi and 4 provinces: Hai Duong, Vinh Phuc, Nam Dinh and Thai Nguyen. With a total additional budget of 487.656.000 VND for 2021, specific results are expected: 16425 high-risk individuals (including injection drug use (IDU), female sex workers (FSW), men who have sex with men (MSM), female transgender (TG)) have access to HIV diagnosis at the 5 provinces; the positive HIV percentage among those tested are 2,1%, among 90% of which are contacted for treatment; 8000 condoms are distributed to high-risk individuals at the 5 provinces.

With these results, the project will help raise awareness about HIV infection reserve, reducing new HIV infection rates and aid in connecting health services to high-risk individuals in Hanoi, Hai Duong, Vinh Phuc, Nam Dinh and Thai Nguyen.
