The series have advised the transportation sector on how to reduce net emissions in line with the urgent requirement to develop green transport for building green and smart cities. Implementing this requirement is also an opportunity for the transport sector to modernize and catch up with global trends and advanced practices.

It is also the commitment of the Vietnamese Government at the Climate Change Summit within the framework of COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh announced Vietnam's strong commitment to responding to climate change.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that although Vietnam is a developing country that has only begun to industrialize in the past three decades, it has advantages in renewable energy. Vietnam will develop and implement strong measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions using its own resources, along with cooperation and financial support, as well as technology transfer from the international community, especially developed countries, including implementing mechanisms under the Paris Agreement, to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

Delivering a speech at the award ceremony, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang highlighted that over the past five years, the Transport Industry Journalism Award has gained significant traction within the journalistic community, fostering greater engagement between the Ministry of Transport and media outlets, especially reporters and journalists covering the transportation sector. This is evidenced by the year-on-year increase in both the number of submissions and participating media organizations.

The submitted works demonstrate a high level of investment, showcasing innovative and captivating presentation styles such as interactive data journalism, long-form articles, megastories, and e-magazines. Moreover, there is a trend towards in-depth exploration, with a strong emphasis on human emotion and values, placing individuals, patriotism, and national pride at the forefront.

The Minister emphasized that 2025 holds immense significance as it marks several pivotal milestones for the nation, including the 50th anniversary of the Reunification Day (April 30, 1975-2025), as well as the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution Commemoration Day, and National Day on September 2nd.

The year 2025 also marks the 80th anniversary of the Transport sector. This is a significant milestone in the glorious journey of building, growing, and developing alongside the nation of the Transport sector.

The journalism award to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Transport sector (August 28, 1945-2025) is one of the important events organized by the Ministry of Transport to commemorate the glorious tradition, foster pride, and promote a sense of responsibility, proactiveness, creativity, and intellect among all cadres, civil servants, employees, and workers in the entire sector. This aims to create a vibrant and effective emulation movement in all agencies and units under the Ministry.

The development of green transportation, aiming for NetZero, and new breakthroughs in the transport sector are also the main themes that attract many entries to this year's award. The most outstanding series on this theme is the 5-part Emagazine: "Proposals for the transport sector to take the lead in Vietnam's goal of achieving NetZero by 2050," by a group of authors in the Journal of Environmental Economics.

According to the Minister, to have a journalism award that gathers works fully reflecting this meaning, the Ministry of Transport has issued a plan to organize the award to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Transport sector with many innovations in terms of scale and awards, to attract all types of media to participate, from television, radio, newspapers to electronic newspapers, etc.

"2024 and 2025 mark an accelerated phase to complete all targets of the 2021-2025 socio-economic development plan, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, especially the 2025 target of putting 3,000 kilometers of expressways into operation nationwide, and bringing several component projects of the North-South Expressway Phase 2 (2021-2025) to an early completion.

I am confident that the urgent labor momentum, creative spirit, boldness, and dedication of the entire cadre, civil servants, and employees in the industry will serve as rich materials for the press to exploit, creating vibrant and engaging journalistic works, thereby contributing to the development of the transport sector.

We also see this as an opportunity for the transport sector to further enhance the quality of information and communication work, listening, and responding promptly to issues arising from life, thereby improving the quality of state management, the quality of services for people and businesses, and contributing to honoring the persistent efforts and dedication of the entire transport sector," the Minister said.

With this meaning, the Minister launched "The Journalism Award to Celebrate 80th Anniversary of the Transport Industry Tradition Day".

It is known that the award has many new features in terms of scale and award structure: 01 Special Prize, 05 A Prizes, 10 B Prizes, 15 C Prizes, and 30 Consolation Prizes, with a total value of nearly 1.1 billion VND.
