Coordination for the implementation of the HIV/AIDS Prevention Project between VUSTA and VAAC, Ministry of Health
On the afternoon of Thursday, August 8, 2024, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) held a meeting with the Vietnam Administration of HIV/AIDS Control (VAAC), under the Ministry of Health.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and finalize the Coordination Regulations for the implementation of activities within the framework of the HIV/AIDS prevention project funded by the Global Fund for the 2024-2026 period.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Ngoc Linh, Vice President and Director of the VUSTA Project Management Board, along with MSc. Dr. Vo Hai Son, Deputy Director of the VAAC, Ministry of Health co-chaired the meeting. The meeting was also attended by members of the VUSTA Project Management Board and officials from various relevant departments of the VAAC.
Overview of the Meeting between VUSTA and the VAAC
The two parties discussed the Coordination Regulations and reached consensus in the following areas: (1) Planning and selecting locations for project implementation; (2) Managing and utilizing medical supplies such as condoms, syringes, and lubricants used in harm reduction interventions for HIV prevention, as well as disposing of used syringes; (3) Managing and utilizing HIV testing materials; (4) Settling accounts for medical supplies and HIV testing materials; and (5) Monitoring and reporting activity outcomes. The Coordination Regulations will be finalized and officially signed by both parties, serving as the foundation for the effective implementation of activities within the framework of the HIV/AIDS prevention project funded by the Global Fund for the 2024-2026 period, ensuring full compliance with relevant State regulations.
At the meeting, VUSTA’s representatives also shared insights about the role of provincial and municipal associations in participating in and overseeing project activities in the locations where the project is being implemented. Both sides also provided updates on the project's progress to date; exchanged ideas and proposed several solutions to enhance coordination with local stakeholders and strengthen management during the project's implementation.
