Vinh Long spreads smart school model for adapting to climate change

The Vinh Long Union of Science and Technology Associations coordinated with Vietnam Green Innovation Joint Stock Company and the University of Technical Education (UTE) to organize the seminar "Adapting to climate change with the smart school model - necessary conditions for local promotion" on May 29th.

Attending the seminar were People's Artist and Dr. Dang Huynh Mai—former Deputy Minister of Education and Training and Vice President of the Vinh Long Union of Science and Technology Associations; Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Trinh Van Ngoan; Vinh Long Union Vice President Thai Van Tao; Director Nguy Thuy Giang of Vietnam Green Innovation Joint Stock Company (GREEN IN); more than 220 representatives from primary schools, middle schools, high schools, continuing education centers and Provincial VUSTA from Tra Vinh, Ben Tre, Dong Thap and An Giang; and finally, officials and lecturers of Universities and Colleges in Vinh Long.

At the session, representatives of the Department of Education and Training shared “green school” policies, programs and solutions in Vinh Long, introducing a smart school program for climate change adaptation and a climate change adaptation model, combating plastic waste and utilizing renewable energy.

These practical experiences and proposed solutions to promote the smart school program for climate change adaptation shall help raise awareness about environmentally-friendly lifestyles, helping schools to develop green infrastructures and connect them to the global green school system.

At the same time, participants had the opportunity to learn, experience and come up with many creative solutions for using sustainable energy and protecting the environment.
