Accordingly, the 2024 World Conference on Science Literacy is planned to be held on December 5-6, 2024, with the theme “Improving Science Literacy, Empowering the Global Community”. There will be 6 thematic forums: (1) Accelerating Science Popularization at the Cutting Edge of Technology to Foster Technological Innovation and Development, (2) Enhancing Public Trust in Science through Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration, (3) Leveraging New Technologies for High-Quality Development of Scientific Literacy, (4) Regional Practices and Global Vision for Science Popularization Capacity Building, (5) Promoting Scientific Literacy through Monitoring and Evaluation, (6) The 2024 Forum of the Center for China Science Popularization and the 31st National Science Popularization Theory Seminar.
Shortly, the Preparatory Committee of WOSL planned to organize building training programs for the international science popularization capacity. This series aims to share quality science popularization experiences and resources, cultivate skilled science popularization talents, and promote global public scientific literacy. The training primarily consists of staff members of WOSL member organizations, scientists, science popularization workers, science popularization volunteers, as well as invited government officials, international organization representatives, experts, scholars, teachers, and business representatives. There will be at least 4 training sessions per year.
Regarding the WOSL Newsletter, the Secretariat suggested changing the publication frequency from a quarterly to a bimonthly schedule and encouraged member organizations to submit news updates, expert opinions, upcoming events or other information related to science education, science popularization and science literacy building about their respective organizations or countries.
