Yen Bai: Workshop on the development of medicinal materials for the local socio-economic development

July 29, 2022: at the Medical Center of Nghia Lo town, the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Yen Bai province in collaboration with the Traditional Medicine Association of Yen Bai province held a workshop on "Developing medicinal materials for the local socio-economic development”.

At the workshop, leaders of the Traditional Medicine Association of Yen Bai province provided information on policies to support the development of herbal medicines; to make a plan to develop medicinal plants value chain, to create conditions for localities to exchange, learn and share experiences in growing medicinal plants as well as know-how to develop a medicinal plant area which is in line with the locality and consumption market; know-how to extract natural herbal medicines in alignment with conservation of precious genetic resources of medicinal plants and know-how to build brands for herbal products associated with OCOP products.

Yen Bai has a rich and diverse natural source of herbal medicines with 630 species belonging to 11 groups of medicines. In the period of 2020 - 2025, the policy on development of medicinal plants is one of 15 policies implemented by Yen Bai province and herbal medicines are one of 10 products categorized in the group of special products of the province that are oriented for large scale, concentrated and intensive farming.
