On October 11, 2022, in Thanh Hoa, The Union of Science and Technology Associations of Thanh Hoa (Thanh Hoa Union of Associations) held a questioning workshop on “Plan on development of organic agriculture in Thanh Hoa province in the period 2022 - 2030”.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phat, Chairman of Thanh Hoa Union of Associations, chaired the workshop with the attendance of members of the Review Council, Thanh Hoa Union and representatives of the agency responsible for the draft Scheme, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Based on the draft Scheme and related documents shared by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Union gathered opinions of the members of the Review Board and experts in the field of agriculture as inputs into a Research Report for the workshop. In general, the Scheme is thoroughly developed with reasonable structure, and content and sub-sections are clearly defined to ensure logical and scientific factors. However, some sub-sections still contain inappropriate content, and analysis and evaluation content is somewhat not aligned with the theme. The Scheme lacks a number of appendices on current situation as well as tasks, solutions, etc.

Members of the Review Board basically agreed with the content of the research report prepared by the Union. They had comments and suggestions, including the name of the plan should be short and aligned with the content of the plan assigned by the Provincial People's Committee. It is necessary to clearly define the target and scope of implementation, thereby determining the content of the status assessment in accordance with the objectives, tasks and solutions. The Scheme should follow the guidance on the organic agriculture development scheme for the period of 2020 - 2030, issued along with the Prime Minister's Decision No. 885/QD-TTg dated June 23, 2020. General and specific goals should be based on those set by the Government and local features for the development of organic agriculture. It is proposed to assign each focal unit to carry out specific contents according to the groups of tasks and solutions of the Scheme.

On the basis of outcomes of the workshop, the Union will finalize the Review Report to submit it to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and send it to the drafting agency to complete the Plan.
