VUSTA Press community must voice out the Vietnamese scientists’ perspectives

Ha Noi – June 17, 2022, VUSTA held a Meetup for VUSTA press and journalists to celebrate the 97th Anniversary of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day.

Attending the meeting was H.E Prof. Pham Quang Thao, VUSTA Vice President and representative leaders of VUSTA affiliated press agencies and the journalists themselves. Prof. Pham Quang Thao congratulated the whole community of VUSTA press agencies, reporters, and journalists on the occasion of the 97th Anniversary and took profound credits to their dedication work for the past years.

Prof. Pham Quang Thao shared that the information and propaganda work carried out by the VUSTA press agencies have resulted to great deals of positive impacts and fully complied with regulations of the Law on Press, the Law on Publication and relevant legislations. Clearly, the braodcast articles, columms and publications becoming further disversified, eye catching and focusing on the VUSTA’s daily work and contribution. He praised the VUSTA journalists and newsmen for their spirits and non stop efforts. Having recalled legacy of 97 years of performance of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, Prof. Pham has expressed his heartfelt aspirations for more powerful system of VUSTA Press so as to voice out the perspectives of community of Vietnamese scientists and to act as a connecting bridge between the Party, the State and the people...

Mr. Lê Thanh Tùng, VUSTA DG for Information, Science Litercy Dissemination is briefing on VUSTA Press and Journalists issues. 

According to Mr. Le Thanh Tung, VUSTA Director General for Information and Science Literacy Dissemination updated  that the current number of 70 press agencies, of which, 1 press agency under direct adminstration of the VUSTA Central Council Presidium and 22 other press agencies run by the VUSTA affiliated STOs. The remaining 47 press agencies are under the management of the VUSTA professional associations. Indeed, VUSTA journalists work is recognized for fostering scientific research, technology application and transfer, and sciency litercy profilerration, communicating and disseminating scientific and technological knowledge, introducing scientific achievements, new technologies of Vietnam and the world, consulting activities, social critique and assessment, activities honoring Vietnamese S&T intellectuals, political information, current affairs, culture to service the public.

As usual, the VUSTA press and journalists have been obliged to be complied with the instructions of the Central Committee for Propaganda and Training and the Ministry of Information and Communications. The VUSTA has itself, run press and broadcasting work properly in accordance with the principles and purposes and constantly improved the contents and methods in order to meet the increasing requirements of scientists, intellectuals and readers nationwide. Many press agencies have also ensured the balance of financial revenues and expenditures for newspaper activities, ensuring stability in professional activities and livelihood of their newsmen.

At the Meeting, representative delegates from VUSTA press agencies openly exchanged and acknowledged the achievements of the Vietnamese press in general and the VUSTA affiliates in particular. According to sharing of certain delegates, press agencies has joined with public authorities in touching with  the issues of public livelihood. The press companionship support very much in settling the concerns rapidly, accurately and and in accordance with the law... Many delegates said that journalists in any era are not excluded from the social practice, the journalists’ perspectives and the way of reporting and article writing style of journalists surely impacts on public awareness at certain degree.
