10 typical activities and events of VUSTA in 2022

On May 21, 2022, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) held a solemn ceremony to honor outstanding scientific and technological intellectuals in 2022. VUSTA was honored to welcome Comrade Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Member of the Politburo, the State President to attend, give a directing speech, welcome and award the typical symbol of S&T intellectuals to individuals with outstanding achievements. This is a great encouragement for the team of S&T intellectuals. This is the first time VUSTA has selected and honored the scientific and technological intellectuals who are not in the system of VUSTA, who are worthy, typical, and have outstanding achievements to contribute to the homecountry's science and technology.

2. Leaders of the Party and State pay great attention to, respect and listen to the advice and criticism of science and technology intellectuals.

Leaders of the Party and State are very interested in the opinions of intellectuals, especially on March 31, 2022, at the National Assembly Headquarters, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai and VUSTA’s President co-chaired the Conference on social consultancy and evaluation: "The implementation of policies and laws on planning work since the Law on Planning took effect". Attending the conference were members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of ministries, National Assembly deputies and experts and scientists. The workshop contributed a number of practical ideas as a basis for the National Assembly to discuss and issue resolutions on the implementation of policies and laws on planning work.

3. Successfully organizing contests and competitions to promote S&T creative movements; VIFOTEC Foundation was honored to receive the First-Class Labor Medal from the State President on the occasion of its 30th anniversary

In 2022, VUSTA’s member associations have successfully organized a number of contests and competitions, such as: Science and Technology Innovation Award; Technical Innovation Contest and Youth and Children's Innovation Competition at both provincial/city and national levels; National Student Olympiad in Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Mechanics, Informatics and Loa Thanh Award. On October 28, 2022, at the Hanoi Opera House, VUSTA successfully held the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of the Vifotec Foundation and received the First-Class Labor Medal from the State President for the Vifotec Foundation. The celebration was honored to welcome Comrade Vuong Dinh Hue, Politburo member, President of the National Assembly to attend and deliver a speech. This is an outstanding milestone in the 30-year journey of Vifotec Foundation's establishment and development.

4. Inauguration ceremony of the new headquarters of VUSTA

On October 30, 2022, VUSTA held a ceremony to inaugurate the new headquarters at Lot D20, Cau Giay new urban area, Cau Giay district, Hanoi. This important event marked the fact that an organization representing a contingent of Vietnamese S&T intellectuals had a new and larger and more beautiful workplace, which was the concern of the Party and State for the contingent of S&T intellectuals and VUSTA. This will also be a favorable condition to contribute more effectively to the tasks assigned by the Party and State to the science and technology intellectuals in the coming time.

5. Cooperation with the provincial/ municipal Party Committees of central-affiliated cities on intellectual mobilization has been strongly promoted.

In 2022, the Party Committee of VUSTA has established a working delegation to work with 17 Provincial Party Committees/Cities (this is an increase of 3 times compared to 2021 with only 5 provinces) in order to facilitate the effective implementation of Conclusion No. 93-KL/ Central Committee dated November 20, 2020 of the Secretariat on continuing to implement Directive No. 42-CT/TW, dated April 16, 2010 of the Xth Politburo. At most of the working sessions in 17 provinces co-chaired by comrades of the Central Committee and with the participation of Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, leaders of relevant departments and agencies. This demonstrates the attention of provincial/city leaders to the intellectuals, to the system of Union of Science and Technology Associations. A number of contents were discussed in working sessions, focusing on gathering, uniting, honoring and promoting the role of local S&T intellectuals in the new landscape and their contribution to social economic development of the province.

6. Launched 02 songs about VUSTA

Towards the 40th anniversary of its establishment in 2023, there have been 02 songs composed about the science and technology intellectuals and VUSTA. VUSTA Song composed by the musician Le May and "Pride of VUSTA" composed by outstanding musician and artist Doan Nguyen, Head of the Music Department of VOV, and popularized by Le Canh Nhac. This is the event marking the first time that VUSTA has had its own song.

7. Agreeing on the time to organize the congress of the Union from the central government to the provinces/cities directly under the Central Government according to the Resolution ofthe VUSTA VIII National Congress

Implementing the Resolution of the VIII National Congress (term of 2020-2025) of VUSTA, VUSTA’s Party Committee has reported in writing to the Secretariat and sent a written request to the provincial Party Committees, the City Party Committee to direct the union of provinces/cities directly under the Central Government to extend their congress time to 2025 to consistent with the Ninth National Congress of Delegates of VUSTA. This is the first time there is a direction on unifying the congress of the Union from the Central to the provinces/cities directly under the Central Government. A number of provincial and municipal Party Committees have received written documents that allow them to extend their congress until 2025.

8. Renovating the operation mode of VUSTA and its member associations

For the first time, eight national associations and seven emulation clusters for local unions established and guided by VUSTA central on their emulation and reward work. This is the frame work for member associations (national professional associations, provincial unions) which have similarities in industries and locations to strengthen cooperation and improve the quality of association activities. At the same time, create a more professional, methodical and effective in the emulation and reward work of VUSTA. With keen awareness of the conclusion of 414 Supervisory Delegation of the Central Inspection Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the competent authorities, VUSTA has reviewed, revised, supplemented, promulgated a number of regulations and rules in order to renew and perfect the leadership style, direction and management methods of VUSTA for member associations and affiliated S&T organizations.

9. The first commendation ceremony "Top Industry 4.0 Vietnam - Industrie 4.0 Awards"

On July 15, 2022, in Hanoi, the Vietnam National Federation of Women cooperated with the Vietnam Automation Association, the Institute of Innovation and Digital Transformation to organize a program to honor Vietnam's TOP Industry 4.0 - Industrie 4.0 Award (I4.0 award) for the first time successfully created media effects and social awareness in implementing the policy of the Party and State leaders on national digital transformation. This is the first year that the Top Industry 4.0 Vietnam Appreciation Program is organized to celebrate the development of manufacturing enterprises, connect supply and demand for digital technology solutions, build and develop smart production as well as to creat a platform for Vietnamese businesses to have the opportunity to exchange, learn and share experiences in deploying smart factories, digital factories, smart production, and scientific and technological research, innovation, improving product quality, productivity, and business administration capacity.

10. The work of information, knowledge dissemination, journalism, and publishing has made remarkable progress

In 2022, there would be active and effective coordination between VUSTA and State management agencies on press and publishing in the work of arranging, consolidating, enhancing the operational efficiency of the press and publishing system of VUSTA. The Knowledge and Life newspaper has beem operating stably and developing after the merger. The Knowledge and Life newspaper officially operated the model of a converged newsroom. It also opened a branch in Ho Chi Minh City. The agency actively participates in communication of VUSTA and S&T intellectuals’ scientific and technological activities. The Knowledge Publishing House has successfully built an e-book publishing system and was recognized as the 12^th (out of 57 publishers) publishing house in the country which approved by Ministry of Information and Communication and to be licensed to publish e-books. The year 2022 is the first year that Knowledge Publishing House has won the National Book Prize C.
