Announcement of 45 excellent solutions of Vietnam science and technology innovation 2021
The VIFOTEC award-winning research works have novelty, creativity and application in production and life with high socio-economic efficiency.
On the afternoon of October 25 in Hanoi, the Vietnam Foundation for Technical Innovation Support (VIFOTEC) under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations) held a seminar: Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award Nam, WIPO Award 2021. Vietnam Federation's President and VIFOTEC Foundation Chairman Phan Xuan Dung and VIFOTEC Foundation Permanent Vice President Le Xuan Thao co-chaired the seminar.
At the Seminar, VNFF President and VIFOTEC Foundation President – Mr. Phan Xuan Dung emphasized: The Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award is held annually to honor scientists and technologists. There has been works of great scientific, socio-economic value that have been effectively applied in Vietnam, contributing to promoting production of enterprises, improving productivity, quality, reducing product cost, import substitution, save foreign currency for the country.
President Phan Xuan Dung said that in 2021,115 works joined in the award in 6 priority science and technology fields, including: Mechanics - automation (17 works); material technology (15 works); information technology, electronics and telecommunications (21 works); biology for production and life (35 works); technologies to respond to climate change, protect the environment and rationally use resources (18 works); technology to save energy and use new energy (9 works). The Organizing Committee of the Awards held a meeting and decided to award 45 works including: 4 first prizes, 8 second prizes, 14 third prizes and 19 consolation prizes.

According to the Organizing Committee, in 2021, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has decided to award certificates and Gold Medals to 2 projects: “Technology, products, technical solutions, measures to build embankments to protect Hoan Kiem lake's shores" by Dr. Hoang Duc Thao (Vietnam Science and Technology Joint Stock Company, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) and "Application of concrete hopper technology (Top-Base) in reinforcing soft soil in Vietnam" of Hotel Pham Thanh Cong and associates (GFS Group).
Standing Vice President of VIFOTEC Foundation – Mr. Le Xuan Thao said that based on the judging results of the jury, the Organizing Committee decided to award 45 works with 4 first prizes, 8 second prizes and 14 third prizes and 19 consolation prizes. The award ceremony took place on the evening of October 27 in Hanoi.
After the 27th organization, the award honors new research works, creativity and application in production and life with high socio-economic efficiency, contribute to national economic construction and development, maintain national security and defense, promote scientific and technological development and transfer technology into daily life.
Mr. Thao cited a number of outstanding works such as "Improving production technology and evaluating the effectiveness of Japanese encephalitis vaccine" by Prof. Huynh Phuong Lien; "Production technology and efficiency of HBsAg micro-Elisa diagnostic biological kit and hepatitis B vaccine" by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thu Van.
Standing Vice President of VIFOTEC Foundation, Mr. Le Xuan Thao emphasized: "By giving the award, scientists and innovators nationwide have successfully applied, effectively thousands of inventions and inventions into production and life, bringing high socio-economic efficiency".
The research results applied in practice also contribute to promoting production of enterprises, improving productivity and quality, lowering product costs, and replacing imports. At the same time, creating a technology market for social life and security and defense. Award-winning works contribute to promoting science and technology creation to become an active movement in research institutes, universities, and enterprises.

According to the organizers, this year welcomes 110 participating projects from 19 provinces. Prize-winning works in priority technology fields include: Mechanical automation, Biology for production and life, Information technology, Electronics and telecommunications; New material technology; Saving energy and using new energy, Technology to respond to climate change, protect the environment and rationally use resources.
Of these, four winning projects include:
"Research, design and manufacture explosive defusing equipment for handling mines and mobile explosives" by Lieutenant Colonel, Dr. To Duc Tho, Department of Military Science - Ministry of National Defense and associates (Field of mechanics - automation).
The project "Application of concrete hopper technology (Top-Base) in reinforcing soft soil in Vietnam" by Pham Thanh Cong KS and his associates, GFS group (Material technology field).
The project "Research, selection and development of PH8 tea variety with high yield and good quality contributes to improving the efficiency of tea production for localities in the country" by Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong and colleagues, Institute of Science and Technology of Agriculture and Forestry in Northern Mountains, Phu Tho province (Biological field for production and life).
The project "Technology, products, technical solutions, construction measures to protect the banks of Hoan Kiem Lake" by Dr. Hoang Duc Thao, Vietnam Science and Technology Joint Stock Company, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province (Technology to respond to climate change, protect the environment and rationally use resources).

The ceremony to receive the First-class Labor Medal and the 30th anniversary of the VIFOTEC Foundation and the closing ceremony and awarding of the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award 2021 will take place on October 27, 2022 at the Hanoi Opera House and broadcast live on Vietnam Television.
