Phu Yen: Symposium on tourism development of the province

The Institute of Oriental Development Studies and the Institute of Cultural Economy (under the Vietnam Union of Associations) jointly organized the Symposium: "Phu Yen Tourism Development" at Sao Mai Tourist Area (Tuy Hoa City) on March 18, 2023.

Delegates attending the seminar included Prof. Dr. Dang Vu Minh - Honorary Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Associations, Mr. Le Tan Ho, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of Phu Yen Provincial People's Committee and former leaders of the province; leaders of relevant departments and branches and a large number of scientists from domestic research institutes and universities.

Prof. Dr. Trinh Quang Phu, Director of the Institute of Oriental Development Studies on behalf of the seminar board chair, delivered the opening speech and presented the major report of the seminar, he emphasized: “Tourism is a general economic sector with many cultural imprints. Phu Yen has many potentials and strengths for tourism development, from natural resources to human resources. To promote these potentials and advantage it requires a sustainable development strategy. From the conference, opinions and perspectives of experts and researchers on tourism, economics, planning, etc., collected to contribute to analyzing, clarifying and proposing solutions to help planners, State agencies on building a strategy for tourism development in Phu Yen in the coming time.

The seminar attracted many discussions and opinions from leading experts in economics and tourism such as: Assoc. Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, former Director of the Vietnam Institute of Economics; Dr. Tran Du Lich; Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung, Director of the Institute of Cultural Economy; Prof. Dr. Vo Tong Xuan; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Duy Huan, Vice President of Southern Can Tho University; Dr. Sa Nhu Hoa, former Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee's Economic Committee; Dr. Pham Le Thao, Deputy Director of Travel Department (VNAT)…

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Le Tan Ho, Permanent Vice Chairman of Phu Yen Provincial People's Committee, on behalf of the provincial leaders, thanked VUSTA, the Conference Organizing Committee and experts has devoted their love and attention to Phu Yen tourism. For the opinions of experts at the workshop, the Provincial People's Committee and the tourism industry will absorb and supplement the general planning of the province, the specific development plan of the industry in order to turn Phu Yen tourism into a spearhead economic sector by 2030.
