Thua Thien Hue: Post-Covid Problems and Covid-19 Vaccination

On November 30, 2022, in Hue city, Thua Thien Hue provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations in collaboration with the Department of Health, Hue Central Hospital, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy organized the national scientific conference with the topic "Update on Post-Covid issues and Covid-19 Vaccination".

The participants in the workshop were Mr. Nguyen Quyet Chien - General Secretary of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, Labor hero, Prof.Dr. Bui Duc Phu – Vice Chairman of Vietnam Medical Association; Prof. Dr. Pham Nhu Hiep - Member of the National Assembly, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of Hue Central Hospital; representatives of departments, agencies and mass organizations; districts, towns and cities; universities, colleges, scientists, medical teams, doctors, medical staff who are professors, associate professors, doctors, specialists, experts, leading scientists in the medical field.

On the side of the Standing Committee of the Conference Organizing Committee – Thua Thien Hue Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations, there were People’s Teacher, Prof.Dr. Tran Huu Dang, Secretary of Party Union, Chairman of Union of Provincial Science and Technology Associations; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Linh - Vice Chairman of the Union, Former Secretary of the Party Committee, former President of Hue University and officers in the Standing Committee, Executive Committee of the Union, Chairman of the Member Associations of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Department of the Union.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Quyet Chien - General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations highly appreciated and considered this as one of the important conferences organized to create proactive views of scientists, managers, institutes, universities, and Science and Technology Associations in the cause of protecting and taking care of people's health, improving understanding and correct understanding of post-Covid-19 and issues related to Covid-19 vaccination, contributing together with the Party and State to orient the views and solutions to prevent the risk of spreading the disease in the community, stabilizing people's lives for the people and economic and social development of the country.

Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 is a pandemic of this century with hundreds of millions of people infected and millions of deaths worldwide. In Vietnam, according to statistics of the Ministry of Health, the number of infections so far is more than 11 million 5 hundred cases and more than 43,000 deaths. During treatment and monitoring, most infected people recover in 2-6 weeks and return to normal health, but there are still some people with symptoms that persist for weeks or even months after recovery from acute COVID-19 illness even though they are no longer contagious during this time. Especially even those who are not hospitalized and have mild illness can experience persistent or late symptoms, and some patients develop medical complications that can affect long-term health. This persistent deterioration of the patient's health due to Covid-19 can be called Acute Post-Covid-19 Syndrome.

In Vietnam, we have controlled the epidemic, although there are still complicated developments, there are many new strains in the world, some countries still take very drastic measures to prevent the epidemic. Thanks to the control of the epidemic, Vietnam's recovery and socio-economic development achieved many positive results, the country achieved many comprehensive achievements in all fields. The world highly appreciates Vietnam's achievements and results.

During the preparation process, the Conference Organizing Committee received nearly 70 reports and articles from professors, associate professors, doctors, specialists, experts, leading scientists in the medical field with different perspectives related to the topic "Update on Post-Covid-19 issues and Covid-19 Vaccination" such as "Overview of the Covid-19 epidemic situation, some key epidemic prevention and control measures performed and vaccinated against Covid-19 in Thua Thien Hue province” of Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Kiem Hao; “Post-Covid-19 and Cardiovascular Complications” of Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Minh: "Neurological changes in Covid-19" of PhD.Dr. Tran Nhu Minh Hang; “Impact of the covid-19 pandemic on high-risk groups and the effectiveness of vaccines” of Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Xuan Chuong; “Covid-19 and reproductive health” of the group of authors Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Minh Tam, MSc. Nguyen Dac Nguyen, Prof.Dr. Cao Ngoc Thanh; “Problems related to Covid-19 vaccines” of Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Dinh Binh and "Update on medicine for treatment and special care for covid-19 patients" of PhD.Dr. Nguyen Duc Hoang.
