Approving the project Join hands with the community to protect the environment

On October 28 th2021, VUSTA approved the project “Join hands with the community to protect the environment” at the Decision No. 806/QĐ-LHHVN. This is a non-refundable aid project which is sponsored by Oxfam Novib, Netherlands and implemented by the Centre for Sustainable Development Studies with targeted beneficiaries are citizens in the mountainous areas in Luc Yen district and Van Chan district, Yen Bai province.

The project focus on implementing capacity building activities for commune-level mass organizations including the Fatherland Front, women unions, youth unions, farmer unions and 2 core groups of women in Yen Bai province with the goal of enhancing the participation of local communities in environmental protection.

These activities focus on the practice of supervising the mining enterprises regarding environment, labor and monitoring the fee for environmental protection due to exploitation of mineral resources; providing policy recommendations on solutions of natural resources management and protecting the interests of local people in which mining projects are located.

The project lifetime is 23 months commencing the date of approval.

Green Forest Program to launch in 2024
To celebrate World Environment Day (June 5th), VUSTA and the Center for People and Nature (PanNature) coordinated with the local authority to hold a launching ceremony for the 2024 Green Forest Program on the morning of June 2nd (2024). The program aims to restore 10 hectares of forest in Van Ho (Son La) and 15 in Hang Kia - Pa Co Nature Reserve.
