Bac Giang: Construction planning of Son Dong district until 2040

On October 9th, 2023, Bac Giang Union of Science and Technology Associations (BUSTA) organized a social consultancy and evaluation seminar on construction planning of Son Dong, Ban Giang until 2040.

The seminar is chaired by the presisent of BUSTA Ngo Chi Vinh. Attendees including Dao Ngoc Nghiem, Vice President of Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association; Luong Tien Dung, Vice Dean of Rural Urban Planning, Deputy Head of Regional Planning Department, Hanoi Architectural University; Le Xuan Hung, Deputy Head of Rural Urban Planning Department, Hanoi Architectural University and several managers and experts of the province.

People’s Committee of Son Dong district is in charge of drafting the construction planning of Son Dong district until 2040 aiming at specifying the Bac Giang provincial master plan for 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050; research and identify the potentials, develop motivation, advantages of the district in order to propose the district's development models; develop the Son Dong district towards the sustainable, economics-centered forest development and protection and become the ecological area of the province; develop the agricultural economics associated with construction of new rural areas; develop a variety of services with the focus on ecotourism, cultural and religious tourism and become a motivation and key economic industry of the district; economic growth’s orientation towards a balanced and sustainable manner in serving the process of industrial, urban, tourism, services, agricultural restructure development as well as social economics development and people’s lives.

At the seminar, the consultation board suggested clarifying the following issues: perspectives and development goals of Son Dong area and its relationship with Hanoi captial and surrounding areas; in the current situation part of the report, need clarifying about land, natural resources, tourism, population, new rural construction; results of the implementation of national target programs; potentials and advantages and unique celling points of the district; key issues need to be addressed. In addition, the forecast work should mention the population including convert population and military force; providing information of land use demands and the economic growth forecast for planning; in the orientation of space and infrastructure development, it is necessary to identify driving force development and pay attention to connecting the outskirt traffic with Lang Son and Quang Ninh, focus on investing in the Long Son urban complex to become a leading area; integrating local projects with national target programs and key projects and implementing accordingly at each stage. Overall, the proposed solutions are quite general, need to be specific to suit Son Dong’s conditions. The solution to prevent natural disasters, floods and landslides should be more paid attention. In addition, propose a special mechanism for Son Dong district in order to reach the set out goal of the plan.

In conclusion, Ngo Chi Vinh requested the People's Committee of Son Dong district to receive the consultation and advices opinions of experts and scientists to complete the Plan and submit to the provincial People’s Committee..
