Environment and Nature Protection Associations responded to 2023 Earth Hour Campaign

2023 Earth Hour Campaign was launch with the theme “The biggest moment for the Earth”

In the evening of 25th March 2023, at Lam Son Square, Thanh Hoa City, the Nature and Environment Protecting Association, Nature and Environment e-magazine cooperating with People’s Committee of Thanh Hoa Province and Thanh Hoa electricity company coorganized the ceremony “Response to 2023  Earth Hour Campaign”.

Attended the ceremony were the Deputy Secretary General of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations – Mr. Le Cong Luong; President of the Nature and Environment Protecting Association – Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh; Vice-president of Thanh Hoa people’s committee – Mr. Dau Thanh Tung and together with the delegates from departments, branches, units, businesses, schools in Thanh Hoa province.

2009 was the first time Vietnam responded to Earth Hour with the participation of 6 provinces and cities, including: Hanoi, HCM city, Can Tho, Hoi An, Hue, and Nha Trang. This year markes the 15th year that Earth Hour was implemented in Vietnam in general and Thanh Hoa province in specific.

Message of 2023 Earth Hour Campaign is “Save electricity – Make it a habit” – Image: VPG

Since end of February, Ministry of Industry and Trade has implemented a series of activities in response to 2023 Earth Hour Campaign. Accordingly, Minisitry of Industry and Trade has built a media package with the massage “Save electricity – Make it a habit”. The message sent to the community is not only to save electricity, save energy and protect the environment in just one hour, but also every individuals and businesses need to regularly practice during 365 days in a year to make saving electricity, saving energy become a habit.

The slogans for promoting this year Earth Hour Campaign were mentioned clearly in the appendix attached to Official Letter No.1663/BTNMT-TTTT, such as: Use energy efficiently and save it for our planet; Turn off one light, light up a future; Restore nature towards sustainable development; Join hands to develop green economy, use renewable energy; Restore ecosystems - take action today; Reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase the use of green energy to bring net emissions to 0.

At the ceremony, many businesses in Thanh Hoa province commited to save electricity to reduce production costs and protect the earth.

On January 24 - 25, the People’s Committee of Van Ho Commune, Son La Province organized the festival “A joyful and greener new spring” at the Lung Xa – Ta De village sports ground (Van Ho Commune, Son La Province). On the morning of December 4, 2025, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) organized a workshop to disseminate legal documents to its member associations, provincial unions, and science and technology organizations. This is an annual activity aimed at updating information and providing professional guidance for units across the VUSTA system.
VUSTA delegation engages with Japanese science and technology partners
A delegation from the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), led by Vice President Pham Ngoc Linh, conducted a working visit to the science and technology organizations in Japan from November 17 to 19. Promoting the application of AI in Energy Management - the key solution for reducing green house gas emission
