President VUSTA Phan Xuan Dung attended the VCCA 21

On April 8, in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), the Vietnam Automation Association (VAA) in collaboration with the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City

held the Scientific Conference and the 6th Vietnam International Conference and Exhibition on Control and Automation (VCCA 2021).

Attending the VCCA 2021 were HE. Mr. Huynh Thanh Dat, the Minister of Science and Technology, H.E Mr. Phan Van Mai, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, H.E Mr. Phan Xuan Dung, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA).

Distinguished guests cutting ribbons to launch VCCA 2021

The VCCAs has been held biennially since 2011 by VAA. This VCCA 2021 takes places in 2 days of April 8 and 9 under the theme of "Automation in the Vietnam Digital Transformation Programme: Intelligent and Innovative".

VCCA 2021 marks the second time cooperation between Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City and VAA. The event has also received the patronage and support of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the People's Committees of the hosting provinces.

Mr. Nguyen Quan, President of VAA cum VCCA2021 Chairman stressed the Event is a prestigious scientific event at national and international scale with the support of ministries, sectors, localities and the large participation of scientists, institutes and businesses operating in the field of automation. This year, although being heavily impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, foreign scientists and enterprises could not attend the event, but VCCA2021 is still marked as a big event and will obtain achievements.

As usual, VCCA2021 includes 3 main activities: scientific conference, international exhibition & business forum in order to connect and effectively improve the link between managers, scientists and entrepreneurs.

Scientific conferences

The purpose of scientific conference is to form a prestigious scientific forum at national and international levels in the field of control and automation which gives a chance for scientists to introduce their research outcomes and exchange experience, and helps connect scientists with businesses. The conference focuses on issues of interest to scientists, businesses and society such as:

Cybernetics: Systems Theory; Control theory; Nonlinear system; Discrete systems, hybrid systems; Modeling and simulation; Optimum control; System identification; Filter and estimate the state; Adaptive control and learning systems; Sustainable control; Intelligent control, fuzzy system, expert system, neural network, genetic algorithm; Motion control; Power electronic control; Modeling and control of industrial robots; Controlling self-propelled vehicles and mobile robots; Control biological systems; Control on the basis of image information; Controls on the basis of natural language, posture and behavior; Micro and nanoscale control systems; Control of electrical machines, transmissions and energy systems.

Mr. Thai Quang Vinh, who was in charge of the conference program, said: "Although the 6th VCCA 2021 scientific conference is taking place in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, with experiences from previous ones and papers and reports are submitted online all preparation works still get done sucessfully as requirements of an international conference. Some writers asked for extension time of reports/articles submission so the organizing board decided to receive papers till August 15, 2021 (half of a month) due to covid related matters. On top of that the scientific content and size of the conference were remained high academic as previous VCCA conferences.

According to Mr. Vinh the number of scientific reports received by August 15, 2021 was 160 articles with wide range of fields that covers most of the 50 topics of the Conference. 56 professors and associate professors and leading experts - members of the Program Committee of the VCCA 2021 - actively participated in the review and assessment. Program Committee has selected 138 papers for 19 sub-committees of the Conference (more than 24 papers compared to VCCA 2019). In addition to domestic reports, the Conference received two international reports from Canadian and Japanese professors on control, energy management of electric cars and optical technology in factory automation. In particular, topic "Automation in the National Digital Transformation Program: Smart and Innovative", VCCA 2021 has nearly 50 reports related to the topic of digital transformation.

Control and automation exhibition

Due to Covid-19 pandemic, this year's exhibition cannot be held in the traditional way, it focused on displaying technology products and solutions of foreign corporations, domestic enterprises and students of institutes and universities in the movement of scientific research and innovation. Especially new and high-tech products in the fields of smart lighting, smart agriculture, energy saving, new energy, supporting industries for automation industry... are displayed. Exhibition booths come from domestic and foreign enterprises, departments, institutes, universities and local automation associations.

Business Forum

The Business Forum focused on the main topics: smart cities and digital transformation in manufacturing enterprises; Smart agriculture; Renewable Energy. In parallel with the exhibition activities, the Business Forum with 5 sessions (more than 20 papers) is a platform for managers to share orientations and policy making for the development of industries in the landscape of post Covid-19 pandemic. It also helps suppliers to introduce their technology solutions and creates opportunities for Q and A in order to promote the connection of domestic and international markets, expand investment, production and business fields. The highlight in the Business Forum session is the participation of foreign business delegations from Russia, Korea.

Overview of Opening Ceremory of VCCA 21

Mr. Duong Nguyen Binh, Standing Vice Chairman of VAA, Head of the Organizing Committee of VCCA 2021 said the VCCA 2021 highlights on the quality of scientific reports as well as presentations in the Business Forum which are in line with conference’s criteria and approach to the 4th Industrial Revolution. Presentations and papers made by experts, business owners and foreign corporations. We hope that the results obtained from this event will be applied in practice, helping businesses in all fields to develop, and making practical contributions to the development of science and the country's economy. In addition, VCCA is a premise for conferences and seminars that VAA has received “order” from provinces on digital transformation in production, smart cities, smart agriculture, start up and innovation under the direction of the Party and the Government.

Green Forest Program to launch in 2024
To celebrate World Environment Day (June 5th), VUSTA and the Center for People and Nature (PanNature) coordinated with the local authority to hold a launching ceremony for the 2024 Green Forest Program on the morning of June 2nd (2024). The program aims to restore 10 hectares of forest in Van Ho (Son La) and 15 in Hang Kia - Pa Co Nature Reserve.
