VIFOTEC gears towards enterprises, start-ups and high-tech innovations in 2021

Over the years, the Vietnam Fund for Scientific and Technological Creations (VIFOTEC) under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), has collaborated with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Central Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and several related ministries and branches organizing a number of activities to promote the mass movement to participate in scientific and technological innovation, honoring and encouraging scientists and creators, including teenagers and children throughout the country.

According to Dr. Lawyer. Le Xuan Thao, the organization of the Awards, the National Technical Innovation Contest, the National Youth and Children Contest has provided a platform for all walks of life, intellectuals, workers, peasants of all ages, including children from 6 years old.

The VIFOTEC Prize has been held since 1995 and has gathered a large force of scientists and technologists nationwide from research institutes, universities, and enterprises. This is also a useful forum to encourage and honor the creators in the country. The Organizing Committee has received 2,671 scientific works, of which 893 awarded.

Many scientific works are the research results of the State and ministerial-level projects, scientific and technological programs which create competitive efforts of products, improve product quality, lower costs, save costs, protect the environment, improve working conditions, increase export rates and reduce import costs...

The National Technical Innovation Contest has been held since 1989. Up to now, the Contest has received 4,276 innovative solutions and awarded 619 solutions. The Contest helped promoting the movement of creative labor of the entire population in the fields of science, techniques, increasing the effective application of technical solutions into production and life, and contributing to socio-economic development. The participants of the Contest are diversity, from farmers, workers to intellectuals and entrepreneurs, of which a lot of farmers and workers have their own research to manufacture machinery and equipment for agricultural production and those works won high prizes.

The National Youth and Children Competition held once a year since 2004 which has aroused the potential creative thinking of youth and children nationwide as well as helped them exchange knowledge, practice their creative skills, and build their dreams of becoming future inventors. Across the country, there are 55 provinces participated in recruiting 6,987 projects, of which 1,425 awarded for excellent student authors.

Besides organizing domestic Awards. The VIFOTEC has organized delegations to participate in international exhibitions on science and technology creation in countries such as Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia... created a chance for Vietnamese scientists to introduces and commercializes Vietnam's science and technology products and exchanges knowledge and experience with scientists of the world. Hundreds of authors have participated in the Young Creation Contest and International Exhibition and won many gold, silver, and bronze medals making the country bright.

For many years, the World Intellectual Property Organization WIPO has awarded many Gold Medals for excellent works, for excellent female authors, to enterprises that have well applied the intellectual property system in production and business.

With the persistent and non-stop striving process, VIFOTEC was honored to receive noble rewards such as: First, Second, Third Labor Medal; The State President's Second and Third Class Independence Medal; 03 Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister; Certificate of Merit from VUSTA, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education and Training, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Central Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and Chairman of Provincial People's Committees, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh, Thai Binh, and Binh Dinh cities.

Over the 28 years of development, VIFOTEC has perfectly supported creative talents from all strata of the people: workers, citizens, intellectuals, the army and children nationwide. It has organized 25 times of the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award, 15 times the National Innovation Contest, 16 times the National Youth and Children Creative Contest, 15 times participated in International Competition and Exhibition about creativity. VIFOTEC's creative start-up movement spread throughout the country, bringing creators together, contributing to the development of economic and defense security. VIFOTEC has cooperated with the Union of 63 provinces and cities to mobilize the gathering of scientists, farmers to participate in the Prize. A number of creative works have been applied to life with high economic efficiency, recognized and highly appreciated by the Party, State and people.

In the coming time, in order to properly implement the direction of the Prime Minister and the 8th resolutions of VUSTA Congress, VIFOTEC continues to hold the annual Science and Technology Innovation Awards for scientists and young people, and every two years organize the National Technical Innovation Contest.

VIFOTEC strengthens close coordination with the provincial unions, departments, branches and youth unions from the central to local levels to organize prizes and contests. Based on the experiences and lessons learned over the past 28 years, it is expected to make great contribution in improving the quality of the projects towards serving enterprises, start-ups and especially the innovations of high technologies in the era of industrial 4.0.
