Vinh Long: Connecting and building an information system for tourism development

On June 13, 2023, the Vinh Long Provincial Union of Scientific and Technical Associations, in collaboration with the Tourism Association and the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, as well as the Department of Science and Technology, organized a wokshop with the theme: "Connecting and building an information recommendation system for users in Vinh Long's tourism development".

The workshop was attended by Mr. Nguyen Bach Khoa, former head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department cum Chairman of the Provincial Tourism Association, along with representatives of the leaders of various organizations, departments, districts, and municipalities within the province. Members of the Tourism Association, as well as representatives from Cuu Long University, Vinh Long University of Technical Education, and Vinh Long Community College, were also in attendance.

During the workshop, delegates listened to speakers and researchers presenting discussions on the current situation and potential for tourism development in Vinh Long province. The topics included natural infrastructure, socio-economic factors, human resources, and the cultural and tourism resource system. The contents being particularly emphasized were the diverse and rich cultural and tangible and intangible heritage of Vinh Long province, which has great potential for development but has not been fully exploited in line with the strengths and tourism products of the region. The workshop also included proposals for solutions and directions for the development of tourism in Vinh Long, especially in terms of investment, potential exploration, resource utilization, and collaborative partnerships in implementing digital transformation projects and digital technologies in tourism businesses in the near future.

Through this workshop, with the aim of enhancing the role of member associations and tourism association members, organizations, and individuals in promoting, connecting, and coordinating state management agencies and specialized sectors, an effort to provide information and build a database to support the development of tourism in the province will be initiated. This will provide essential information for tourists both domestically and internationally when visiting Vinh Long province. This initiative aims to contribute to the economic and social development needs of the locality. The proposed solutions for developing tourism in Vinh Long will be considered by functional departments in consultation with provincial leaders, ultimately leading to new objectives and directions for innovation and the development of new products based on the strengths and tourism potential aligned with the development direction of Vinh Long province.
