Recently, the world and ASEAN countries have experienced the Coronavirus (COVID-198) pandemic. Although physical distancing is needed but we, ASEAN Engineering Members, still have an opportunity to share ideas and exchange knowledge and find a better solution for us all ASEAN and its individual countries through borderless communications technology. I do believe that the CAFEO38 can provide the opportunity for us all in seeking cooperation to cope with the changing world effectively.

On behalf of the Engineering Institute of Thailand under H.M. The King’s Patronage (EIT), I wish to extend my warm congratulations to the Institution of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA). I am very pleased with the 38 thConference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (CAFEO) themed, “Fostering Initiatives and Actions by AFEO to Build a Sustainable and Prosperous ASEAN Community”, held from 18 – 26 November 2020 at Hanoi, Vietnam. The Sustainable and Prosperous ASEAN Community that we desire starts with good ideas and practices. The important thing is that we have to be patience and perseverance to achieve our goals because there is no success has come without a good fight. On behalf of EIT, I am willing to continue our close and constructive cooperation with ASEAN engineering societies and make great efforts to consolidate our cooperation to lead to sustainable stability and prosperity in the region.

Lastly, I would like to extend my appreciation to the Institution of the Institution of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) for organizing an excellent and useful conference. I do hope that the CAFEO 38 will be successful for the better future of the ASEAN region.
