Vietnam Federation of Civil Engineering Associations achieves positive results in 2023

On December 23rd, 2023, Vietnam Federation of Civil Engineering Associations (VFCEA) organized the third Executive Committee Conference term IX, 2022 - 2027.

Speaking at the opening conference, President Dang Viet Dung stated that thanks to great efforts of all members and leaders of the Federation and the spirit of following closely to the 2023 theme: Innovating organizational model and operation method of Vietnam Federation of Civil Engineering Associations, many positive results achieved in 2023. The Federation has completed all the regulations according to the charter of the Federation, also given the assignment to all members of the Executive Committee and departments: Economy, science - technology, Office and the Southern branch.

Up to now, there are 11 of out 20 localities organized the congresses, the Federation admitted 19 associations and 1,802 individuals, of which 1,093 individual members in the North and 709 members in the South.

Scence of the conference

The social consultancy and evaluation activities has many positive changes, providing consultation to agencies, organizations and businesses diversity and proactivity, focused on the formulation of laws, norms, standards and large project, schemes. The Federation also organized many international seminars on technology and materials, cooperated with localities to hold series professional seminars. Training activities is one of the important highlights shown through the cooperation with universities, Loa Thanh Award and issuance of practice certificates for individuals and organizations.

In addition, the Federation completed many ministerial-level research projects and hosted many thematic reporting sessions on digital transformation and construction technology. The communication activities have been maintained with regular publication of magazine issues, focused more on the quality of the articles while complying with the operation principle of the Federation. The foreign affair activities have been re-established with the participation of the Asian Civil Engineering Coordinating Council and the United Nations.

However, according to Dr Dang Viet Dung, there are still many difficulties and limitations such as some units under the Federation shown their poor performance for several past years; member management work has not been paid attention; shortage budget for maintain the Office of the Federation as well as for implementing tasks due to reducing annual revenue sources; activities in the fields of science-technology and social consultancy and evaluation are not shown the role and position of the Federation.

Regarding 2024 action plan, President Dang Viet Dung informed the theme of 2024 is “Improving the quality of social consultancy and evaluation” followed by three major tasks: Changing the contents and methods of social consultancy and evaluation toward proactive in development of consultancy of programs, bills, practical issues and law enforcement barriers; improvement the quality of experts who perform the social consultancy duties, strengthen department in charge of social consultancy and evaluation; development cooperation programs on consultancy capacity building for provinces in order to promote creativity and intelligence of experts of the whole Federation.

Dr. Dang Viet Dung asked delegates to give comments and opinions on the theme and the Federation’s action plan of 2024 as well as the solutions to promote the activities between the Federation and its member associations, among profession and local associations, different local associations and members in each associations.

Representatives of units, experts and researchers reported their work plan and achievement as well as limitations in 2023. Degelates also gave solutions to develop the Federation in immediate future. It can be listed as increasing the efficient of social consultancy and evaluation activities; strengthen the link between Federation activities and specialist associations through professional programs; Exchanging the experience in collaborate with VUSTA and local associations.

Dr. Sc Phan Xuan Dung, President of VUSTA highly appreciated improvements and achievements of the Federation in 2023 which contributed to the development of construction industry, economy and society of Viet Nam.

Regarding the Federation’s action plan in 2024, Mr. Phan Xuan Dung believed that the Federation will gather the experts, managers and scientists in construction field to assist Ministry of Construction, Government and National Assembly and localities in long-term, medium-term and short-term strategies, plannings and programs on the compeletion of construction industry management policies toward sustainable development and efficient national resources exploitation.

Vietnam Federation of Civil Engineering Associations awarded the Ministry of Construction’s merit

President of VUSTA emphasized that “With new spirit and success, the Federation needs to tackle the difficulties with its member associations and VUSTA to perform well tasks given by Party and Government. The Federation needs to be more active to participate in VUSTA’s activities such as scientific and technological research, social consultancy, knowledge dissemination and international cooperation. At the same time, the Federation needs to promote the beautiful tradition of the national intellectuals to boost the Federation’s position in the future”.

At the conference, Vietnam Federation of Civil Engineering Associations also conducted additional elections to the 10th Executive Committee, term 2022-2027 and awarded units and members of the Federation who have successfully completed their duties.

Green Forest Program to launch in 2024
To celebrate World Environment Day (June 5th), VUSTA and the Center for People and Nature (PanNature) coordinated with the local authority to hold a launching ceremony for the 2024 Green Forest Program on the morning of June 2nd (2024). The program aims to restore 10 hectares of forest in Van Ho (Son La) and 15 in Hang Kia - Pa Co Nature Reserve.
